The Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York firefighter who lost his life on September 11, 2001. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established in memory of Stephen Siller, an FDNY firefighter, who gave his life to save others on September 11, 2001. After strapping on 60 pounds of gear, Siller ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Tw
in Towers, where he made the ultimate sacrifice. His legacy lives on through the Foundationโs mission to honor military and first responder heroes. The Milwaukee 5K Run & Walk, which simulates Sillerโs run through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, is part of a national series that supports this mission through fundraising and community engagement. Since its launch, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has delivered over 1,000 mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen first responders, Gold Star families, and catastrophically injured veterans. In 2024 alone, the Foundation hosted more than 70 Run, Walk & Climb events across the country, engaging tens of thousands of participants, and raising millions of dollars to support its mission. These events are powered by volunteers, including veterans, students, and local businesses, who are all united by a shared commitment to honor and remember Americaโs heroes. Corporate Centralโs involvement reflects a deep dedication to community service and a belief in the importance of giving back to those who have given so much.
