SUNDAY FUNDAY

Good morning Melon Patchers! Its been a crazy summer! My kids, and grandson, are all off to their first day of school tomorrow.

I haven't had a lot of time to quilt this summer, unfortunately. However, I did get this one done last Saturday. It is a baby quilt for my daughter's best friend. The shower was Sunday - finished it with a good 17 hours to spare! Then got it in the wash quick.

I chose a luxe cuddle fabric for the back. I dislike the mess that cuddle makes - but apparently forgot. On today's list is cleaning up the "fur" in my sewing room.

What have you been working on this summer? Are you starting up fall projects/Christmas gifts yet? It'll be here before we know it!

FINISH IT UP FRIDAY

Happy Friday quilters! Hope you have plans to do some sewing this weekend (maybe on Sunday when the heat turns back on, ick).

Today's question is - what is one WIP that you really wish you could just finish? Maybe you are really excited about it - or, maybe its just been dragging onnnnnnnnnn and you would like to see it completed! It may be hard to pick just one - so share as many as you'd like. Stuck on something and want an opinion? I'm sure others would be willing to weigh in as well...

I started my quilting journey in January of 2024. In April, I started this one, Mad Quilt Party by Art East Quilting. As you can see, I got a couple blocks in... And have made not one bit of progress since. These three will likely have to be remade as well - as in the beginning my seam allowances were way off!

This is probably my oldest WIP. Will I be finishing it soon? Unlikely... I wish you all better luck finishing those projects up!

TIP JAR TUESDAY

Spill the beans quilters! Inquiring minds want to know:

What’s one small quilting tip that saves you big frustration?

I was creating a quilt top recently, using a kit I purchased a couple years back at Willow Creek. It directed me to create many, many half square triangles in a much easier manner.

First, you place two large pieces of fabric right side together. You then draw a grid on the back - sew on either sides of the lines. Then, you cut the pieces apart. Say what?! Maybe everyone knew this but me, I don't know... But I thought it was genius!
