Muscatine Humane Society Our goal is to find all of our animals loving, forever homes. We hold several fundraisers throughout the year.

The Muscatine Humane Society operates as an animal shelter and a city pound for stray animals as well as owner surrendered animals in our community and surrounding areas. Our mission is to educate the public about the importance of and dire necessity to spay and neuter their pets, to prevent the needless suffering that follows overpopulation. Concurrently, the Society provides a safe haven for lost or abandoned animals until their owners or a new home can be obtained. The humane society is a privately owned non-profit organization which is funded by personal donations. Without fundraising the humane society would not be able to launch any new programs or fund new projects.

This is Archer. He's a 6 month old German Wirehaired Pointer. We are seeking a hunting home for him as he has been started on some field work. These dogs are not couch potatoes and will thrive when they are able to do what they were meant to do.

Here's Ziggy! She's a 5 yr old Lab mix girl and what a happy personality she has! She's of smaller stature and has been spayed. She's good with other pets and older kids. She's a bit rambunctious for toddlers. Her previous family is heartbroken as their new landlord does not allow pets. She's also pretty reliable in the housetraining department. Get your applications in now! I promised her owner that she wouldn't be here long.

We have a crisis! Each and every day we are getting a minimum of 5 calls from pet owners needing to give up their pets. Some of these calls come from 2 hours away. We turned away 6 dogs yesterday because we simply do not have any kennel space. These owners cannot even afford basic needs for their pets. Pet food and even cat litter are taking a back seat to food for their human families. We have no choice but to concentrate on our City and County residents who truly need help. This message is just FYI, so everyone understands our position and knows that we are doing the best we possibly can.
