Yesterday, we hosted Youth Mental Health First Aid training for our staff and community partners. We are grateful to Jen Craft, Director of Public Health for Muscatine County, for leading this important training and helping participants build the skills needed to recognize, understand, and respond to mental health challenges in young people.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and early intervention can make a lasting difference in a young person's life. We encourage schools, youth-serving organizations, caregivers, and community members to learn more about Youth Mental Health First Aid and consider participating in a future training. Together, we can create a community where every young person feels supported, heard, and connected to help when they need it most.

💙 When we all know how to recognize the signs and respond, we can change lives.

Back-to-school season is a great time for parents and trusted adults to brush up on the digital language kids and teens use online. 💬

Emojis and text slang can mean different things depending on context, and keeping familiar with the latest lingo can help you better support safer online conversations.

Check out our free Lingo Lab: A Parent’s Guide to Understanding Online Communication Risks to help decode common emojis and text slang, build awareness and keep communication open with youth in your life.

Understanding digital threats starts with knowing the language. Stay informed and keep the conversation open.

Last week, MVCPC provided Minimal Facts Training, an important program that equips professionals and community members with the knowledge and skills to respond appropriately when a child discloses abuse.

Knowing how to respond can make a significant difference in supporting a child and helping ensure their safety. This training focuses on gathering only the essential information needed while remaining sensitive to the child's experience.

MVCPC is proud to offer this valuable training to organizations, agencies, schools, and community groups. If you are interested in scheduling a training for your team or group, please contact us for more information.

Together, we can help create a safer community for children.

We hosted the Gather and Grow Series for the Quad Cities Behavioral Health Coalition tonight. Individuals came to learn more about minimal facts.

Strong partnerships build stronger families and safer childhoods.
