When I was a kid, my favorite trophy had a fish on top of it. While it’s been 30-years since that day in the stream, it’s been an honor to help revive the S.L.A.M. Fish Derby...

Huntleigh Sum, 3, and Layton Orange, 12, (pictured) were our male and female winners. Layton’s winning rainbow trout measured 16-1/2 inches. Congratulations🙌

Friendly reminder (please share!) for our annual S.L.A.M. Fish Derby, this coming Saturday morning!!

Wonderful local event for the kiddos to get involved fishing a great local stream. Please register (and donate to a great cause!) with the QR Code below in the flyer👇There is no cost involved with registration...

To help answer some questions:

1. If you are unable to register online, please feel free to show up, and we will get you registered the morning of the event! We start fishing right at 9AM. Fish as long, or as short as time permits - anytime between 9-2pm!!

2. This Derby is open to all children, 15 & Under. It is also open to anyone - you do not have to reside in the community🙂

3. Due to changes beyond our control, we will not be stocking the stream (per every year in the past) the morning of the derby, due to the trout hatchery not operating on the weekends. We heard back that the stock truck will be at the stream on Friday, May 15th at 10:30am - please feel free to come help if you’re available!

4. Please use live bait, or additional feed like salmon eggs, or PowerBait. We are not permitted to use lures, as they can hurt the fish. We do not have bait at the event. Please utilize local gas stations (which have the live bait coolers - or simply turn over a few logs to find all kind of worms!) You are permitted to take the fish home to cook! We are more than happy to demonstrate how to properly clean your trout (and cook it!)

Our annual S.L.A.M. Fish Derby - since 1986!! Wonderful event for the kiddos to get involved fishing a great local stream. Please register (and donate to a great cause!) with the QR Code below in the flyer👇There is no cost involved with registration...

To help answer some questions:
1. If you are unable to register online, please feel free to show up, and we will get you registered the morning of the event! We start fishing right at 9AM, so please show up early...
2. This derby is open to all children, 15 & Under. It is also open to anyone - you do not have to reside in the community :)

We are working with the business to determine a final date and time for the stocking if anyone would like to assist in the day(s) prior to the event!
4. The S.L.A.M. Derby (May 16th) is a separate event from the Gombosh Fishing Derby, held annually at Townsend Park. Their event will happen on opening day, Saturday, April 4th! It is a wonderful event, and really encourage the community to support this amazing annual event!! 🐟💦
