Apparently we picked the wrong M name for Michele. Maybe it should’ve been Mermaid. Or Moana. Because the sea definitely calls her. 🧜‍♀️🌊😂

Before Michele was rescued, she had spent well over a year in boarding in Homeland. We had no idea whether she’d ever even seen the water before, much less what she would think about getting on a SUP.

Well. We got our answer.

Michele climbed aboard like she had a standing reservation. No fear. No hesitation. Not a care in the world. Just a seven-year-old Heeler mix cruising around the bay with a giant smile on her face and, frankly, better SUP skills than her foster dad. 😂

And that might be our favorite thing about watching Michele experience more of the world. There’s still so much we’re learning about her—and apparently so much she’s been waiting to show us.

She’s sweet, happy, adventurous, and has one of those smiles that makes it impossible not to smile back.

Turns out this girl wasn’t meant for a life in boarding. She was meant for a life. And she is making up for lost time. 💙

Whoever adopts this part-Heeler, part-mermaid girl is getting one hell of a sidekick. 🐾🌊
