Professional Numismatists Guild - PNG

PNG members must demonstrate knowledge, responsibility and integrity in their business dealings.

The PNG is a nonprofit organization founded in 1955 that's composed today of the top rare coin and bullion coin dealers who must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics in the buying and selling of numismatic merchandise. Members of the Professional Numismatists Guild must adhere to a Collector's Bill of Rights and a Code of Ethics that prohibit use of high pressure sales tactics and misrepresentation o

Our new Vice President is Dustin Johnston, Senior Vice President of Heritage Auctions. He joined Heritage in 1998 and has been a PNG member since 2014. At Heritage, he oversees the management of the Currency division, which includes consignment acquisitions, purchasing, cataloging, marketing, and inventory management for World and US Banknotes.

Former PNG President Jeff Garrett, founder of Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries in Lexington, Kentucky, received this year's Significant Contribution Award for exceptional, beneficial efforts over the years on behalf of PNG, the profession, and the hobby.

The winner of the 2026 Robert Friedberg Award, presented to an author in recognition of an outstanding book or other literary work, is Thomas DeLorey, author of the reference book, The Enigmatic Lincoln Cents of 1922, published by Whitman.

We recently welcomed a new Board of Directors, led by veteran dealer John Brush as the new PNG President. Brush is the owner of DLRC in Virginia Beach, has been a PNG member for over 20 years, and served as our Vice President for the last two years. We're excited to see where he takes us during his term!

Every PNG member is listed in the our online directory! This locator provides incredible leads and potential business for members. Collectors looking tobuy and sell have searched out and driven hundreds of miles to do business with a PNG dealer many, many times, often passing by local dealers in their area because they want to work with a PNG dealer that has a great reputation and adheres to a strict code of ethics.

Our 2026 Harvey G. Stack Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is Richard Kenneth (“Kenny”) Duncan, Sr., founder of U.S. Coins and Jewelry in Houston, Texas. The award is presented to a numismatist for his/her extraordinary devotion to numismatics and who, over their lifetime, has significantly contributed to the hobby or profession.

The Kosoff Award is presented to a PNG member-dealer who has demonstrated steadfast dedication to the numismatic community and made a significant contribution to the Guild or the numismatic fraternity. The award is named after PNG’s Founding President who spearheaded the 1953 launch of the organization. This year's recipient is Dr. Donald Kagin, president of Kagin's, Inc., in Belvedere Tiburon, California.
Kagin is also the author of the reference book Private & Pioneer Gold Coins of the United States 1786-1862 and other numismatic works. He has been a PNG member since 1994 and is also a former Vice President of the American Numismatic Association.
