💔 With a Heavy Heart 💔
I am deeply saddened and shaken by the tragic murder of a therapist in Florida. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family, loved ones, colleagues, and clients, and to the broader therapist and provider communities who are grieving and trying to make sense of this loss.
This senseless act of violence is a painful reminder of the emotional labor, vulnerability, and courage inherent in helping professions. So many therapists and providers show up every day to hold space for others in their darkest moments, often carrying far more than the world ever sees.
As we grieve, I hope we also take this moment to support one another and to remember that we are human, not limitless. May we give ourselves permission to be discerning — to listen deeply to our hearts, our instincts, and our nervous systems about who we can serve, when we can serve, and where our limits truly are. Saying no, referring out, or stepping back when something doesn’t feel right is not failure; it is wisdom and self-preservation.
Holding the therapist and provider communities close in my thoughts. You matter. Your safety matters. Your well-being matters.
