We are a non-profit fishing club who meet once a month at the Waccamaw Neck branch of Georgetown's County Library on Pawley's Island, South Carolina. As a group and individually we are very conscious of the impact we have on the environment and we stress prudent practices at all times while engaging in our sport of fishing. It is the desire of the Club to become a highly valued asset of the commun
ity and aid local officials wherever and whenever possible. Sometimes we may make our resources available to other nonprofit organizations when the Club officers determine it is consistent with the Clubs goals. The Murrells Inlet Light Tackle Fishing Club (MILTFC) promotes catch-and-release angling for all local game fish, supports conservation organizations and agencies, publishes a monthly newsletter, presents monthly programs with guest speakers, and organizes frequent local trips for our member’s. While we are principally focused on game fishing in the Murrells Inlet watershed, we also organize fresh and salt water trips to other destinations up and down the east coast waters. Occasionally the Club may try to put together an overnight trip of one or more nights. MILTFC was founded in 2011 as a non-profit recreational club in accordance with IRS Section 501(c)(7). While concentrating our efforts on the improvement of all game fish in the region's waters, MILTFC supports the preservation of fish habitat and the wise management of all game fish species. The Club also emphasizes knowledge of safe boating and wading skills as central to an enjoyable water experience. MILTFC participates in various community activities including:
Stressing water cleanup before, during and after engaging in our sport. Safe use of boats, canoes, kayaks and other water watercraft. Practicing advocacy for environmental issues affecting water quality, aquatic habitat and fisheries management. Developing recreational and educational events for young people, veterans, disadvantaged and other groups in addition to our members. Providing proper use of equipment and demonstrations of learned techniques. MILTFC also works closely with state and federal agencies, other membership organizations and various businesses on matters of common interest. First and foremost it is MILTFC's goal to improve the quality of time its members spend while engaged in light tackle fishing.
