At their May meeting, the Delta Department of the Murray Woman’s Club welcomed VFW Post Commander R.J. Owens and Senior Vice Commander Janice Maynard as guest speakers.

They shared their military experiences and discussed the many ways the VFW supports veterans and serves our community. Members learned that proceeds from VFW Bingo and Slot Nights help fund important local services, including the warming and cooling center. They also shared exciting plans for a new facility that will bring all VFW activities together under one roof.

The Garden Department of the Murray Woman’s Club gathered in June to reflect on another successful Iris Show, discussing this year’s accomplishments and planning for an even better event in the coming club year.

Hostesses for the Murray Woman’s Club Garden Department for the June meeting were Susan Deloach, Shirley Uzzle, and Dee Morgan.

One of the department’s most cherished traditions is the presentation of the Petunia Award, which recognizes an individual who has generously dedicated their time, talents, and service to Garden Department activities.

This year’s Petunia Award was proudly presented to Jane Hardin. For many years, Jane has overseen the upstairs setup for the Iris Show, faithfully helped plant and maintain the flower beds at the park, donated plants for the Iris Show plant sale, and contributed countless hours to support the department’s work.

Congratulations, Jane, and thank you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to beautifying our community!

Last night, we had the pleasure of installing our new officers and honoring and remembering Dot McNabb at our Memorial Service. As always, we enjoyed a delicious salad supper! We would especially like to thank our hostesses: the Music, Kappa, and Zeta departments.
