Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of A

merican freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, FMF Corpsmen and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines. Our History:
The Marine Corps League perpetuates the traditions and spirit of ALL Marines and Navy FMF Corpsmen, who proudly wear or who have worn the eagle, globe and anchor of the Corps. Lejeune. It takes equal pride in its Federal Charter, approved by An Act of the Seventy-Fifth Congress of the United States of America and signed and approved by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937. The League is the only Federally Chartered Marine Corps related veterans' organization in the country. Since its earliest days, the Marine Corps League has enjoyed the support and encouragement of the active duty and Reserve establishments of the U. Marine Corps. Today, the League boasts a membership of more than 76,000 men and women, officer and enlisted, active duty, Reserve Marines, honorably discharged Marine Veterans and qualified Navy FMF Corpsmen and is one of the few Veterans Organizations that experiences increases in its membership each year. Leadership:
The Marine Corps League is headed by an elected National Commandant, with 14 elected National Staff Officers who serve as trustees. The National Board of Trustees coordinates the efforts of 49 department, or state, entities and the activities of over 1100 community-based detachments located throughout the United States and overseas. The day-to-day operations of the League are under the control of the National Executive Director with the responsibility for the management and direction of all programs, activities, and affairs of the Marine Corps League as well as supervising the National Headquarters staff.

The 250th birthday celebration is coming. We will be celebrating the Marine Corps Birthday on 10 November 2025 at Field of Dreams, in Desota, Illinois. Please come a join us for this very special birthday. The doors will open at 1800. Tickets are $40.00 per person. The agreed to attire is Coat and Tie or equivalent. For those that have the Red blazer please wear your full uniform with the black trousers and black tie.

This Thursday 9 October 2025 is our monthly meeting. The meeting is located at 606 1/2 East College St. Carbondale, Illinois. Please come by and meet the membership. At this meeting we will be installing officers.

This Saturday we will be on the Applefest parade. COme out and see what is new on our float this year.

This Saturday 30 August 2025 we will be gathering at the Toys for Tots building at 0800 for a work day as we continue to get ready for this years campaign.

On 6 September 2025 is the first parade of the season with the Veterans on Parade in Marion. For those that wish to car pull meet at the Toys for Tots building at 0730. If you want to meet us at the parade line up at the high school.

On Saturday 13 September we will be in the second parade. The Murhpysboro Apple fest parade. We will pick up the trailer at 0900 for anyone interested in ride sharing . others can meet us at the parade line up by the Caseys.

On 16 September we will be greeting the returning veterans for the Honor Flight. I will have more details to share later.

Finally, on 27 and 28 September we will be at JAC Hunting and Fishing Days.

Toys for Tots Fundraiser tomorrow November 5th all day at Quatros Pizza in Carbondale.

If you mention Toys for Tots, we will receive 30% of your bill to purchase Toys & books for our 2024 campaign.

Last year we provided Toys for 3,631 children in the counties of Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Saline and Union in southern Illinois.

We also have gift certificates available for Quatros that are $10 each. They are worth $10 and Toys for Tots receives $3 for each certificate.

Election day is a great day to eat out, carry out or have delivery.
