As most of you know, Gary and I have moved back to FL and we never really got a chance to say good-bye to a lot of you!! We realized as we participated in this year's Senior Games, how much we were going to miss all of you, and the games itself!! Some of us only saw each other for the 6 weeks that the games took place, and it was so FUN to get back together again, and pick up right where we left off from the previous year! It is so bittersweet writing this because SR Games will truly be some of our fondest memories from our time living in Murphy, NC! We embraced the games, we took chances on new activities that we had no experience with, and in the process we formed beautiful friendships! It is with tears in my eyes, that I tell you, Gary and I will miss all of you immensely! Hopefully our paths will cross again! Big Hugs to all of you!!

We had 30 people show up for our Air R***e Target Shooting activity today (9 first-timers). I do believe everyone had great time and enjoyed the day. Thanks to the American Legion Post 532 of Clay County for partnering with us on this.

We had a fun afternoon of Billiards -10 men and 10 ladies - and topped it off with a 'tournament'. Frank Burden emerged as the winner but everyone had such a good time we may do this again later in the fall.

I have fairy tale to tell you - except it's not.
From my very first participation in our local Senior Games in 2019 to National Champion in my age division (75-79) - sure sounds like a fairy tale.

This past weekend, yours truly went to Geneva, OH to compete in the USA 2026 Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships. I went mainly to stay with my son Brian in Erie and spend some time with him and secondly, to compete with the idea that maybe I could get a medal - any medal. Well I got to do both.

I picked up a Bronze medal in the Triple Jump event with the best yet to come. I won the Long Jump event with a personal best leap of 12' 10". Now as National Champion, I qualify and get to represent the U.S.A. at the World Track & Field Championships which take place next March. Who says fairy tales don't come true?

If I can do this - anyone can! GO SENIOR GAMES!
