💐FLORICULTURE CDE STATE QUALIFIERS💐

The Floriculture CDE team competed today at the Middle Tennessee Regional Floriculture CDE against 38 teams! Our team placed 4th in the region qualifying them for the state contest this spring! Only the top four teams in the region move on to the state contest!

These members completed a knowledge exam, identified flowers, tools, equipment, pests and disorders, and created floral arrangements including a chest corsage and centerpiece.

Team members included:
Lune Vargas Alvarez
Bayleigh Dean
Maliu Canevali
Ani Escobar Hernandez

We are so proud of these ladies and can’t wait to continue working towards achieving that state title! 🏆

💙99th National FFA Convention Competitors💛

For those that may not know, Riverdale will have TWO CDE/LDE events competing at national convention next week representing the state of Tennessee!

🏆Food Science CDE: Carlos Pena Ochoa, Emma Medina, Danna Porras Altamirano and Eriana Bernardo Lopez

🏆Creed Speaking LDE: Mahayla Shirley

Competing at the national level is no small feat and these members have given it their all to represent their state and the Dale with pride next week. That being said, there are two ways we would love to see our Riverdale community support them going into next week!

1. Leave them a comment of encouragement or well wishes or send an email to [email protected] that Mrs. Shaw can share with them the night before their respective contests. We want to show them how much their community is behind them and how proud we are of them.

AND/OR

2. If your business (or you personally) would be interested in supporting their travel expenses financially, it would be very appreciated! These students have been working to secure donations to assist in the travel expenses necessary to compete at the national level.

HEART OF TENNESSEE MEAT GOAT CLASSIC

What a way to start fall break! Molly Davis and Mrs. Shaw wrapped up the goat show season today at the HOT Meat Goat Classic at MTSU.

Molly competed in showmanship last night and today both her Wether and Commerial Doe were 3rd in some tough classes.

I am so proud of the work she has put in this season and the growth she has had as a showman! I can’t wait to see what all she has accomplished this time next year!

Big thank you to Rujena Dotson for good stock and Mike Swafford for your help along the way! We are thankful for our village!

Our state winning CDE and LDE members and Mrs. Shaw made the trip to Rocky Top today to attend the State Winners’ Prep Event held at the University of Tennessee.

Our Food Science team and Creed Speaking competitor were able to work with Professors and other industry professionals at the university to help prepare them for their contests at National Convention in just a few short weeks!

Wish them luck!!

❤️LINCOLN COUNTY MARKET GOAT SHOW💛

Molly Davis had a great day at the Lincoln County Market Goat Show.

She was pulled for the Senior Level Showmanship champion drive, and 🥈 in both her Market Goat and Commercial Doe Kid classes.

The best part of the day was watching her assist a future peewee showman in their peewee showmanship class. That’s what raising and showing livestock is all about! Proud of the example she sets for others in and outside the ring!

💐Floral Design💐

If you haven’t heard, Riverdale now offers a floral design course!

Mrs. Shaw’s Floral Design class has been very busy the last couple of weeks with events!

Last week they completed all of the florals for the homecoming festivities including one large bouquet, five medium bouquets, two small bouquets and eight boutonnières.

This week, they were able to complete the floral design pieces for the Riverdale Honors College induction being held this evening!

Keep this class in mind if you have any events you may be needing floral arrangements for. These young florist are doing an amazing job!
