I had a powerful experience today. I was at Verizon trading in my phone. An old veteran sat down beside me. I asked him if he was a vet and he said yes I served in Vietnam. I do not know why but I felt compelled to talk to him. So we did and after a while he told me his wife had died 4 years and he had never been the same. He teared up. We kept talking. I told him about my Vietnam vet dad and about what I do. He teared up again. I gave him a hug two times. The lady helping him downloaded the app for him and found and followed me for him.

He touched my heart and soul. We all need each other. A kind word, a few minutes of time can make all of the difference.

I am praying for you brother in arms. God is walking with you.

For six years, Code of Vets has thrived on X/Twitter as the unique nonprofit dedicated to veterans. Here's where our journey began. Together with my partner , we've supported over 5,000 veterans and their families nationwide, amassing over $7.5 million with an incredibly lean 2% operating budget.

HURRICANE MISSION FOR VETERANS

We are initially setting the goal to assist veterans who are victims of and for $25K. 100% of these funds will go directly to the veterans. We can always increase the amount if needed. We will be keeping veterans from becoming homeless, securing other housing if theirs is destroyed due to these storms, and support with the damage incurred. Many live paycheck to paycheck. One crisis can cause financial ruin. We will step in and stabilize them.

HURRICANE DAMAGE MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Army vet Michael is a graduate of Camp Hope. Hurricane Beryl hit land July 7 and it has taken FEMA until yesterday to begin assisting with $750 for urgent assistance. This hurricane affected 15 counties in TX. Michael, like other vets, had to fund many things like generators, tarps, water needs and food storage just on his VA Disability. NO ELECTRICITY AND EVICTION

Army Vet Chris found out today DAV in Augusta GA never filed his claim. Months of waiting and what was he waiting for? One of the “VA Certified Representatives” and a supposed GOOD entity failed another vet miserably. He has not worked since June, behind on rent, his electricity was shut off 7 days ago and he has a 14 yr old and 9 yr old. He is under eviction and needs a job. Will take any job he can get. He applied for SNAP and has not gotten any yet. $2500

WISHLIST MISSION FOR AMPUTEE VET


Our amputee vet Charles is working but it has been a challenge to find a home near his work that is truly handicapped accessible. COV has been following him since July 2022 shortly before he had his leg amputated. He has gone thru many ups and downs along the way…we are proud that this man is not at risk of being homeless again. He has broken the cycle. A special shout out to Veterans Place in Pittsburgh for being with Charles through all of it. It takes a team and we are proud to have been a part of this vet and his journey.

This is it. Let’s help our brother in this next exciting chapter of his life. He has a home now!
