Murfreesboro Cold Patrol Homeless Outreach and Advocacy We go directly to their camps, bridges, abandoned buildings, etc. Thank you for being interested and sharing our posts!

Murfreesboro Cold Patrol was originally set in place as an effort to "patrol" Murfreesboro during the coldest parts of the year in an effort to look out for and protect our most vulnerable homeless friends from exposure-related injuries and death. This patrol occurs whenever the Coldest Nights emergency shelter is forecasted to be open (when temperatures reach “emergency” levels, which is when the weather is forecasted to drop to below 30 degrees). Who we look for includes folks with severe alcohol/drug problems, severe health issues, mental health issues, folks recently released from jail, newcomers, and even registered sex offenders. and make sure they are aware of and have the opportunity to get into warm shelter whenever it is available. When they choose to not come in, we make an effort to provide them with the resources they need to survive the night (such as socks, hats, sleeping bags, tents, food, propane, etc.). Last winter we encountered 3 individuals during single digit weather that, apart from our intervention, would not have survived the night (one of those individuals is six months clean and sober and doing fantastic as a result of those encounters)! "Cold Patrol" is really just a catchy name for a service we provide the community in the winter, but don't be deceived by the name. We, along with a great group of friends who are committed to making a positive impact in our community, are working hard year round to make sure these most vulnerable members of our community have the resources they need to survive living outdoors and are introduced to opportunities available to them to achieve measurable, positive change (friends being the most important of those resources)! If you are concerned for an individual this winter or in any season and would like for someone to see about his or her well-being, please don't hesitate to call us! We will be glad to go introduce ourselves and see how we can help. That helps!! Pray with us that every person in our community has the opportunity to stay warm this winter and that the people we come in contact with have the opportunity to be treated as human and loved well through their most difficult struggles all year long!

If you have followed us for a while you will see we shoutout First United Methodist Church Murfreesboro often. In the last two weeks, volunteers came out and helped with landscaping at our Transitional Houses, Jordan was invited to speak with the United Women of Faith group, and we were selected to receive a grant to continue the work that we do. We can’t put into words how grateful we are to partner with them and are honored that they believe in us and our mission!

Thank you to John and Jennifer for inviting our ED Jordan to talk about our upcoming luncheon, Love Your Neighbor event, and learn more about MCP! The segment about the Luncheon starts around minute 17, but there are some great Rutherford County updates through out. If you are interested in coming to the luncheon, more details are below!

We are heartbroken to announce the loss of Aimee Cain. Aimee was not just on our Board of Directors, but a constant advocate for MCP. Her kindness and passion for the population we serve was unmatched, and the support she had for our staff will be something we are eternally grateful for! Aimee was always one of the first to lend a hand, fill a need, and advocate for the clients we serve, so in her honor we will continue to do just that.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the founder of Trinity Title, Aimee Cain, has unexpectedly passed away. She leaves behind her loving husband Jerry, and a legacy of true professionalism and customer service. Aimee celebrated 20+ years in the Title business. The company she founded, Trinity Title, will celebrate its 5th anniversary this year.

What Aimee really leaves behind are friends that are incredibly grateful for having worked with her and known her. She made a positive impact on this world. Aimee had the heart of a servant, with a passion for helping others. A cause near to her heart was Murfreesboro Cold Patrol, an organization that helped anyone in need. Her legacy will live on through the amazing people she worked with at Trinity Title as it continues to serve Middle Tennessee.

We want to give a shoutout to our amazing Case Managers! As many of you know, we have a Transitional Housing program for men, and recently we have had several guys move out into permanent housing. While the participants do chores, five grown men in a house can cause some normal wear and tear. Our AWESOME Case Managers decided to do a big cleaning day to make sure that the participants moving into this program were getting to move into a place that was as clean and loved as they deserve. To quote Liza “Just because these guys are coming from living outside doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to live somewhere nice!” We are grateful for these two everyday, but after a long day of TLC wanted to throw them some love too!

We want to say a big THANK YOU to the Democratic Women Who Care for the summer supplies! We were out of “the good bug spray” as our clients call it, and on our last pack of electrolyte packets so the timing was great. All of these items are life savors (some literally) during this heat.
