Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD) Bryan-Liberty Counties Chapter and our Top Teens had the privilege of participating in the 26th Annual Walk to Dorchester. What an incredible experience to walk in the footsteps of history.
The Walk to Dorchester is much more than a 9.5-mile journey it is a tribute to the determination and resilience of the students who walked this same path to receive an education at Historic Dorchester Academy during segregation. Dorchester Academy also became a significant site in the Civil Rights Movement, where leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gathered to organize, strategize, and advance the fight for equality.
As an organization committed to service, leadership, and youth development, it was an honor for our Top Ladies and Top Teens to take part in preserving this legacy. Walking together reminded us that every step we take today is possible because of those who came before us individuals who sacrificed, persevered, and believed in the power of education, justice, and community.
Thank you to the organizers for continuing this meaningful tradition and ensuring that future generations understand the importance of our history. We are proud to have been a part of this year’s walk and look forward to continuing to honor the legacy of Dorchester Academy.
“We walk not only to remember the past, but to inspire the future.”
