For months, Mary Sickler held on to what remained of her hair. Her mom begged her to shave the thinning patches and wispy strands to fully accept her diagnosis. There really was no going back, but for so long, Sickler couldn't bring herself to let go of her appearance, at least not at first. l πŸ“·: Fadil Berisha

Jacob was diagnosed with alopecia when he was in 4th grade after noticing large clumps of hair scattered throughout his house. After a long journey with doctors and medications, he found NAAF. Jacob shared,

β€œNAAF has really helped me. I connected with people who went through the same things I went through.”

Jacob is participating in the Walk For Alopecia so he can help others who also have alopecia. He said,

β€œThe Walk For Alopecia is important to me because it’s a way for me to spread awareness for people dealing with the same issues as me.”

Join Jacob for the grand finale of Alopecia Areata Awareness Month. Register for the Walk For Alopecia Presented by Pfizer today and walk with us on Saturday, September 27, at one of our Flagship Sites in San Francisco and Philadelphia, 20+ community volunteer-led walk sites, or Walk Where You Are as a team or individual in your neighborhood. naaf.org/walk
