May is mental health awareness month, an annual observance founded by Mental Health America in 1949 that highlights the importance of mental wellbeing, educates the public, reduces stigma and promotes support for those affected by mental health conditions.

Each year, individuals and organizations come together to raise awareness and advocate for better mental health care and resources.

How can you bring awareness to mental health awareness? Reaching out to lawmakers, expanding the behavioral health workforce and teaching others how to be there for each other, knowing helpful resources such as 988 Lifeline and other local agencies and resources.
