The history: Born and raised in Congo, Gaspard (now a resident of Green, Ohio) started a myriad of fundraising efforts to build St. Joseph Community hospital for residents in and around Boma. Just recently, Educate for Congo partnered with St. Hilary Parish and School to build a school for the children in Boma. The newest endeavor is to grant the wish to the many local, underprivileged couples in Congo to wear the beautiful gowns they admire from the Western world. They tend to spend less than $10 US Dollars total sewing their traditional Congolose wedding attire which is colorful and an ode to their tribal ancestors. It’s not unusual for the wedding celebrations there to extend weeklong. Many brides there wish to wear the dream of a “white gown” as part of their celebration, yet can’t afford. Your donated apparel and items will be cherished and loved for their celebration. Once worn, the gowns are donated back so future couples may enjoy them time and time again.
