Our last day in Michigan did not disappoint! The sun came out and temperatures rose to above 30°! We visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the ice falls were great!

Yesterday Troop 73 was able to get out and take a nice nature hike around camp and completed some housekeeping task! Some even tried building igloos! Card games and the fire place kept the boys busy while warming up. As of this morning, it is snowing again but is no where near the previous blizzard conditions!

This is the cross county ski area we were hoping to visit. Unfortunately they are closed for the season due to “historic snowfall” and lots of trees down. When they say “historic snowfall” in the UP that really means something! We are safe, warm and eating like kings. Lots of card and board games, some outside play time - moral is high. Snow has mostly stopped but more importantly the crazy winds have died way down. We will likely take a hike today on the camp roads and talk about the northern forests and the various snow formations. There are drifts well over 12’. The scouts all seem to like the fact they are part of something historic and yet are thriving - a lesson in resilience, perseverance and preparedness.

The storm is unrelenting. Now you see him, now you don’t - a hardy Scout shoveling a path from his cabin.

Everyone is safe and warm this morning in the dining hall. Pancakes are getting ready to go on the griddle!
