Shoveling snow, ice or any material onto a public road is unlawful. Please do not push your snow across the road and into your neighbor’s property.

Please do not park along Fremont Township (West Shore Park) roadways for the safety of the plow drivers, your vehicle, and to allow for better clearing of the snow. When there is a reasonable chance of snow, please do not park on township roads. Some areas become impassible with the plow trucks, greatly affecting the ability to remove snow and adding substantial time to the routes. This is also in the best interest of your vehicles, both with salt spray and the risk of slipping in icy conditions.

As always, please give the snow plow drivers plenty of space.

Fremont Township employees appreciate you not parking on Fremont Township roads during any snow events. It has made their cleanup efforts so much safer and efficient in the past. Please help by reminding your neighbors if you see them parked on Fremont Township (West Shore Park) roads.

While the goal of Fremont Township will be to have all areas cleared “curb to curb” within 12 hours of the end of an event, limited staffing may preclude that during prolonged events. The emphasis will be on making sure all areas are cleared to allow passage of emergency vehicles, delaying a complete clean-up until the drivers have received adequate rest to perform safely.

Wear High Vis clothing when walking at night. Much of the plowing is done in the dark—either after evening rush hour or in the early morning hours. Invariably, after every round, they comment on encountering pedestrians dressed in black, walking in the dark, and they thank their lucky stars that the plow driver saw them in time. If you must walk at night when it’s snowy, please wear high vis clothing and remain clear of the road when the plow trucks are in your vicinity.

Keep kids out of roadside snow piles. Hurting a child while pushing back snow is every snow plow driver’s worst nightmare. Playing in snow piles after the roads are clear can be risky too—as snow accumulates, the plow drivers may need to move piles to create space for additional snow and improve visibility.

Thank you for your cooperation and please stay safe!

Please contact Fremont Township Highway Commissioner, Alicia Dodd, if you have any questions regarding the roads.

Please have your last round of leaves out by this Monday, November 24, by 6:00 a.m.

The Last Day Of Leaf Vacuum is November 24, 2025

While they tell us to have the leaves out on Monday, they may not be there on Monday due to the volume of leaves they pick up elsewhere!

The vac hose reach is 3 feet, so piles will need to be as close as possible to the road. NOT in ditches or in the roadway.

ComEd has reported that due to a recent event, immediate repairs will be done in West Shore Park.

Electricity will be temporarily shut off in portions of West Shore Park from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

We do not know which areas of West Shore Park will be affected, but it appears that the shut off may only be in Block 1. This is not confirmed.

Questions regarding the temporary power shut-off should be directed to ComEd at 1-800-334-7661

**The water shut off/boil order that is mentioned on the "A" frame signs on West Shore Drive is NOT for West Shore Park. It is only for West Shoreland, which is a separate well and water system. West Shore Park DOES NOT have a water shut off planned or a boil order in place.

**Hydrant flushing will take place next week in West Shore Park.
Block 1 will be flushed Wednesday, July 30 and then Block II will be flushed Thursday, July 31. (days/dates are subject to change)

**Watering Restrictions
From May 15 through September 15, West Shore Park restricts the use of water for landscaping purposes as follows:
Block I – ALLOWED to water on ODD numbered weekdays.
Block II – ALLOWED to water on EVEN numbered weekdays.
Watering is ONLY allowed from 5 AM - 8 AM and 7 PM - 11 PM
Sprinkling is NOT ALLOWED ON WEEKENDS, however hand-held watering IS ALLOWED.
*Swimming pools ARE NOT to be filled from the West Shore Park water system.
*Homeowners with swimming pools should use outside services for initial filling of pools.
Additional restrictions may be imposed in the event of severe and/or prolonged weather conditions, such as a drought.

If you have already submitted your information, you may disregard this message.
If you are on a private well, you may disregard this message.

Many homeowners have not yet submitted this required information. Please do so ASAP. Please contact Water Commissioner, Chad Karol, if you do not know how to locate your incoming water line or need assistance.

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe drinking water, West Shore Park conducts lead and copper water testing annually, as mandated by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). Recent updates to IEPA requirements have introduced additional steps in this process. Specifically, we are now required to gather information regarding the type of water line coming into each home.

To comply with these new regulations, we ask for your assistance in identifying the material of the water line entering your home. This can typically be determined by locating your home’s main water shut-off valve, which is usually situated in a basement or crawl space. Once located, please inspect the pipe that runs through the foundation and identify whether it is made of copper, lead, plastic, or another material.

If you are unsure of the material, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a clear photo of the shut-off valve and the connected pipe for reference.

***Please email your name, address, and the type of pipe material (or a photo) to Chad Karol at [email protected] . This information will help us compile the necessary data for submission to the IEPA. Should you have any questions or require assistance, do not hesitate to reach out to Chad directly via email.**

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and prompt attention to this matter.

How Do I Recycle My Christmas Tree?

To have your Christmas tree recycled, it must be out either of the first two pickups in January. (Saturday, Jan. 4th and Friday, Jan. 10th).

Groot will pick up the trees through January, but they will only be recycled if they are put out the first two pickups.

The trees can not have tinsel, lights or ornaments on them.

You may also donate your tree to the Forest Preserve and they will recycle it into wood chips for trails and landscaping in your forest preserves.

Bring your real, undecorated tree to one of eight marked drop-off sites at preserves around Lake County, open 6:30 am–sunset daily, through February 1, 2025. No yard waste or commercial drop-offs are accepted.
