OEIS advocates for interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists pushing the boundaries of outpatient care. The Founding Members of the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society saw the need for a single society that could represent the interests of office- and outpatient-based interventional practices. Outpatient centers are springing up all over the country with no representation, no larger group to belong to...no real voice. The OEIS brings together the vascular surgery, interventional radiology, and interventional cardiology worlds of outpatient intervention!

Friday's Allied Health Professionals Session at the OEIS 14th Annual National Scientific Meeting brings together the nurses, NPs and PAs who keep outpatient labs running.

Knee arthritis and plantar fasciitis are now embolization conversations in the outpatient lab.

This Friday, "GEST at OEIS: MSK Embolization" from this year's Annual Meeting goes live on the OEIS YouTube channel. It covers genicular artery embolization from patient selection through outcomes, plantar fascia embolization, and other emerging MSK targets.

Not every career starts with a stethoscope. Dr. Eric Dippel started his with an engineering degree.

Dr. Dippel is an interventional cardiologist and the founder of the Vascular Institute of the Midwest in Davenport, Iowa, built around treating PAD and CLTI patients in the outpatient setting rather than the hospital. He began as a biomedical engineer at Northwestern before training in interventional cardiology at the University of Iowa, and that engineering background still shows up in how he approaches device selection and procedural technique.

He currently serves as OEIS's 2nd Vice President and a Director on the Board, representing interventional cardiology, and has moderated sessions at our Annual Meeting for years running.

Abstract submissions for the 14th Annual National Scientific Meeting are open.

If you have original research, a case series, or a quality improvement project from the outpatient endovascular space, this is the venue built for it. Presenting at OEIS puts your work in front of the physicians actually practicing in this setting.

“Yes, I’m doing a vascular procedure to treat a neurological problem. Like I said, this is heresy.”

That’s Dr. Sam Ahn at this year’s Annual Meeting, making the case for percutaneous balloon angioplasty as an effective alternative to open surgery for neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome. He also asked the room not to throw tomatoes at his brand-new suit. 🍅

His full talk is part of “Venous Deep,” the Annual Meeting session on deep venous intervention in the outpatient setting, and it goes live on the OEIS YouTube channel this Friday.
