🤍Welcome to the Foster Closet 🤍

We exist for one simple reason: to show up for foster, adoptive, and kinship families — and the kids they welcome into their homes. When placements happen, they often happen fast, sometimes with just the clothes on their backs. Our closet helps fill those gaps with essentials like clothing, shoes, pajamas, diapers, coats, and everyday basics so kids can feel safe, comfortable, and cared for from day one.

We serve foster, adoptive, and kinship families in our community, and every item in our closet has been donated with love by people who believe these kids deserve dignity, comfort, and a fresh start. Walking into care or a new home can be scary and overwhelming — our hope is that when families walk into the Foster Closet, they feel supported, seen, and reminded they’re not doing this alone.

Shopping with us is simple and free for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. You can schedule a visit, come in, and shop our closet like a store — choosing what fits your child’s needs, style, and season. Whether you’re welcoming a newborn in the middle of the night, a toddler who needs diapers and jammies, or a big kid who just wants clothes that feel like them, we’re here for you.

We recently went through our donation bin and shared some of these tips in our stories, but we thought they deserved a spot on our page, too! 💗

We hope this is helpful as you consider donating to The Foster Closet! Keeping these things in mind helps our volunteers spend less time sorting through clothing and more time working on all of the other needs of the Foster Closet. 💗

A hospital onesie.

That was it.

A brand-new baby left the hospital and went straight into foster care with nothing else to call their own.

So while a foster mom was busy stepping into a brand-new role, our team was busy filling a bag.

Tiny clothes. Diapers. Essentials. A few things to make those first days a little easier.

By the time she picked up her new foster baby, she didn’t have to stop and figure out where to shop or how to get everything they needed. She could go home, hold that baby, and start figuring out their new normal.

Sometimes what we do at The Foster Closet looks like racks of clothes and bins of supplies.

And sometimes, it looks like a bag packed for a newborn who arrived with nothing.

Those moments are why we’re here. 🩷

📦 TODAY IS DONATION DAY! 🩷

The Foster Closet @ Illuminate is accepting donations TODAY from 10:00–11:30 AM!

We’re looking for:
👕 Newborn–2XL clothing
👟 New or like-new shoes

🏠 Drop-off bin is on the front porch!

Clean out those closets and help us keep the shelves stocked for foster, kinship, and adoptive families. 🖤

Lucky number 13! 🩷

Family #13 was served at The Foster Closet at Illuminate! We never take for granted the incredible generosity that continues to fill our shelves and, more importantly, allows us to serve foster, adoptive, and kinship families and youth in our community.

Every donation, every volunteer, and every person who helps make The Foster Closet possible plays a part in making sure children have what they need during some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

We are so grateful for the continued support that allows us to keep saying, “Yes, we can help.” 🩷

To be 10. 💕

To be 10 is to dream about sparkles and glitter, to pick your favorite shade of pink, and to get excited about trying on clothes that make you feel like you.

Every child who enters foster care has a story, and sometimes that story includes a lot of change and uncertainty. But in the middle of all that change, there are people who step forward and say, yes.

Yes, you can come here.
Yes, you have a place to belong.
Yes, you can still just be a kid.

This little girl was the girliest of girls. She picked out sparkles, glitter, and pinks. She had so much fun shopping, choosing her favorites, and trying on clothes.

And for a little while, it was simply about being 10 — getting to choose what she liked, feeling special, and being reminded that she matters.

We are so grateful The Foster Closet can be part of those moments. 💗
