Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes yesterday! Still not thirty 🥳
Wow it’s been a crazy past few days! It’s a honor to be recognized in Washington D.C. and being selected by National Foster Youth Institute to speak to congressional members about issues effecting Hoosiers across Indiana and my hometown Muncie as well as Henry, Grant and other counties across Indiana.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at Representative Victoria Spartz office and Erin Houchin office. They both took the time to sit down and chat with me about issues effecting Hoosiers across Indiana one being housing authorities not having enough knowledge to initiate the FYI voucher program. Local housing authorities need help to bridge the gap between HHS and HUD to ensure every foster child receives the help and support they need when they age out of care.
Also thankful to be able to bring up my bill concerning a national database to ensure the continued protection of children currently going thru abuse. Parents should never get the opportunity to escape justice by moving across states lines to flee the system. A national system is long overdue to ensure the safety of our most vulnerable are protected. I look forward to continuing my conversations with Congress to ensure every child receives the love and support they need to become successful!
Thanks again to NFYI for allowing me this opportunity and I encourage foster youth looking to have a voice to sign up for this opportunity every year and work with the wonderful staff at NFYI!
Also thanks to the new friends I made Cameron, Ciera, Evelene, and Serena. I hope to see you all again!
We have 55 foster children that have birthdays in July I encourage you to continue to drop off donations at our drop off locations below!
