Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes yesterday! Still not thirty 🥳

Wow it’s been a crazy past few days! It’s a honor to be recognized in Washington D.C. and being selected by National Foster Youth Institute to speak to congressional members about issues effecting Hoosiers across Indiana and my hometown Muncie as well as Henry, Grant and other counties across Indiana.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Representative Victoria Spartz office and Erin Houchin office. They both took the time to sit down and chat with me about issues effecting Hoosiers across Indiana one being housing authorities not having enough knowledge to initiate the FYI voucher program. Local housing authorities need help to bridge the gap between HHS and HUD to ensure every foster child receives the help and support they need when they age out of care.

Also thankful to be able to bring up my bill concerning a national database to ensure the continued protection of children currently going thru abuse. Parents should never get the opportunity to escape justice by moving across states lines to flee the system. A national system is long overdue to ensure the safety of our most vulnerable are protected. I look forward to continuing my conversations with Congress to ensure every child receives the love and support they need to become successful!

Thanks again to NFYI for allowing me this opportunity and I encourage foster youth looking to have a voice to sign up for this opportunity every year and work with the wonderful staff at NFYI!

Also thanks to the new friends I made Cameron, Ciera, Evelene, and Serena. I hope to see you all again!

We have 55 foster children that have birthdays in July I encourage you to continue to drop off donations at our drop off locations below!

1. Icing
2. Cake mix
3. Balloons
4. Candles
5.Back to school supplies

It’s always great to catch up with US Senetor Todd Young in DC. Thankful that he always takes the chance to meet with Hoosiers like myself and listen to concerns effecting us. Today’s meeting was about creating a long overdue system that allows states to communicate with each other on each states child abuse databases. Right now the process is long and tedious, each state has to send documents and paperwork to another state requesting verification if a person has ever been involved with that states child welfare system. It’s vital that we expedite the background history checks to catch and prevent people from moving states to escape the systems further traumatizing and sometimes causing death to children while their parents try to avoid prosecution.

Thanks to everybody whose been taking care of things while I have been traveling for work! I don't get paid for the non profit so I have to find as much flexible work as I can to continue to support the work A Voice For Kids INC does for foster children across Indiana so I need to travel for that!

While I have been away I have relied on several wonderful individuals to help assist in picking up items and deliver them! So thanks to Lauren Terhune, Rich Marsh, Rayvin and Maya Alexandra for their continued support in helping to pick up and drop off these items and put our boxes together and deliver them to ensure 53 foster children get to celebrate their birthdays in June! While foster care Awareness month is ending as well as our gift card give aways we still rely on your donations every month of the year to continue to support foster youth. 100% of your donations go to foster youth. We still collect icing, cake mix, balloons and candles every month! Please drop these donations off at any of the locations in this document.

I also want to give a special shout out to Jackiy Surface-Farmer and Marshall Farmer who own Anderson Midas Auto Center and Midas in Muncie Jackiy and the Midas crew have been signing over 200 of our birthday cards that get delivered directly into the hands of foster youth from DCS offices in New Castle, Muncie, Peru, Marion, and Hartford City. And they have been picking up donations and dropping them off as well! Thanks to the Midas family for their continued support!

Also thanks to Gabriella's Old Time Pizza pizza for allowing us to use their shop as a halfway spot for DCS directors to pick up their boxes for their kiddos! ❤️

I am working on setting up some fundraisers my box prices are going up 10% so instead of .85 they are going to .95 cents per box and we are sending out around 53 boxes per year! Yesterday I spent out of pocket $30 for cans of soda we ran out of for July and $23 120 pack of the birthday cards we use! So these fundraisers will help ensure I can use your donations for these items!

Also shout out to Walmart North for their donation of $50 and Megan Shelton for putting that together for us

Do I have any friends who maybe willing to sit at this event in yorktown June 6th? To encourage folks to continue donating supplies for our birthday program? I am leaving town tomorrow night and I have to do some work in Colorado before my event in Washington D.C. June 8-12 so trying to go directly from DEN to DC instead of coming back just to run this booth. They get over 1000 people that attend this event! As we continue to grow I have been trying to set up at more of these types of events. Please let me know ASAP. I can leave the supplies at Walls Furniture & Mattress - Muncie tomorrow.

So the programs you can discuss is the Birthday items needed, Christmas Program, and back to school backpacks!

Thank you for your consideration!

Looking for some help with A Voice For Kids INC. Between the boards committees meetings and trying to earn an income I am spreading myself thin I think and would be great to have some volunteers to help with different aspects of programming! After calculations I put in over 20 hours a month into the non profit not including over 8 hours with the boards a month and about to start another 24 hours a month in another capacity for free. So not getting paid for any of that volunteer work I am looking for people who.

A. Might be willing to drive to Marion/Grant County DCS Office and drop off birthday boxes last week of the month (I’ll pay gas money)

B. Be willing to sit at a booth and help explain to people about needing donations (not money donations item donations I hate asked for money) for our Birthday, back to school, and Christmas program.

C. Help put together our boxes or sign cards for us once a month!

D. Approach businesses in New Castle/Henry County and see if they maybe willing to be a drop off location if I am able to secure covering Henry County DCS offices birthdays.

E. Really looking to start a board back up within the next two months so I can go after grants and funding. I have spent over $700 on birthdays so far and I spent almost $1100 extra on the Christmas program! So looking for small grants to cover our boxes ($499 per 500) and at least bulk cake pans another ($479 per 500).

F: Also looking for somebody that attends HOPE in Delaware County or Community Business Connections that maybe willing to talk in months I am unable about how many children I have per month and different ways I am looking for help! (I have the retreat for aged out foster youth coming up in sept, the CASA event next week, back to school in July, Christmas program starting November, and birthdays every month)

Because of privacy concerns and access to children I have to keep things pretty tight with limited access to certain aspects. So I am more cautious with the volunteer aspect.

For consideration for the Board or to become a volunteer please send resume or cover letter to [email protected]

If you have somebody in mind let me know!
Right now I am thankful for the three volunteers I rely on every year for help with with different aspects of our programs!

Matt Peiffer

Today was a busy day! Packing up over 60 boxes of birthday cake supplies to be dropped off to DCS offices the next couple days! We anticipate to provide over 600 foster children across Indiana with a birthday cake this year! Thanks to Maya Alexandra and family for coming to help me out! I ended up having to go out and buy $48 worth of things that we ran out of! So here’s some of the Important things I need I would love to stock up on for next month that I ran out of! These twist up canned soda ($4.70 at Walmart for 12 cans) and birthday cards (if you can sign them and write them I won’t hold you back!) “You are special happy birthday love A VOICE FOR KIDS” or “You Rock Happy Birthday Love A VOICE FOR KIDS” (or you can write your own message reminding them how special they are and if you want to sign your name that’s fine to!

Thanks to Craig Robbins with Walls Furniture & Mattress - Muncie for allowing us to pack up our boxes at your furniture store and storing them for safe keeping every month! Get to walls furniture for all your furniture needs!

At Yorktown Four Day Ray Brewing Coffee Cravings The Frozen Boulder Yorktown and Muncie Parlor Doughnuts will be entered to win a $20 to $30 gift card from those location and will get a raffle ticket! Also if you drop off those items to Nick Richards with Maxwell's Barber Shop you’ll be entered to win a free haircut from the legend himself! 💪
