A great event was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, hosted by Minnetrista Museum & Gardens in partnership with the Muncie Urban Forestry Committee. The event brought together people from across the community to celebrate trees, stewardship, and connection. CEP had an informational booth, handing out the highly coveted seed coasters!

This year, the event welcomed 527 visitors and provided one sapling per person, helping extend the impact of Arbor Day well beyond the event itself.

We were happy to be part of such a great event!

The Board of CEP and its special guests from the Zeigler Foundation were treated to a fascinating presentation by Cassie Hauswald and Swati Gunali from the Indiana Nature Conservancy at the CEP Annual Board Dinner. We learned much about their efforts across the State and their partnerships with local agencies. Thanks to the Delaware County Country Club for hosting us and providing a lovely meal, and to Jenny Smith for organizing the beautiful centerpieces!

Think Spring in Guthrie Park!!

CEP has commissioned a new design for a small triangular island adjacent to Guthrie Park. The new planting scheme focuses on a beautiful red horse chestnut tree in the center of the island, planted as a memorial.

To begin phase one of the new planting for the triangle CEP volunteers have planted 150 “Ice Follies” daffodil bulbs to establish a foundation for future additions of perennials and shrubs this spring — extending seasonal color and visual interest throughout the growing season. Peonies, daylilies, plumbago and hydrangea will complement the spring bulbs

The Guthrie Park Triangle planting is supported through the generosity of a donor who established a designated fund at The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County to support ongoing beautification in the triangle, in memory of a loved one.

Red tulips are the internationally recognized symbol of Parkinson’s Disease Awareness efforts.
Wearing and planting the red tulip raises awareness and shows support for people living with Parkinson’s and their families globally.
Anticipating the April 18th Muncie Parkinson’s Awareness Meet & Learn event at Minnetrista and the YMCA Parkinsons Awareness Tulip Trot 5K run/walk, CEP created a special landscape project to support and enhance this Awareness effort.
In early November, CEP board members, Ball State Speech Pathology and Audiology students and faculty, and members of Parkinson’s Awareness Association of Central Indiana gathered to plant 1500 red tulip bulbs in the planting beds River Bend Park…tulips timed to be blooming in the park for the upcoming April events associated with Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month
A mix of four red tulip varieties were planted to increase the chances of having blooms during the event window. Staggering bloom periods by using different cultivars will help ensure a strong red presence along the 5k route.
· Red Purissima – Early flowering
· Big Red – Mid-season
· Lalibela – Mid-season
· Best Red – Later flowering
River Bend Park (Wysor and High Streets) is along the route of Tulip Trot/YMCA 5K route, guaranteeing visibility to all participants and spectators. Existing planting beds provide a natural canvas for mass tulip displays and will mix with established daffodils. The location complements other tulip plantings at Minnetrista, in hopes of creating a unified citywide Parkinson’s Awareness Tulip Trail.
Riverbend Park is an early CEP project, created over 30 years ago and continues to be maintained by the organization. Think Spring!! https://www.cepmuncie.org/ .

A Fresh New Welcome to the Fairgrounds

Community Enhancement Projects (CEP) is proud to partner with the Delaware County Fair Board on the redesign and planting of the Fairgrounds Entry Median — transforming a key gateway into a vibrant and welcoming entryway for all who visit the Fairgrounds.

This project funded by CEP and installed by the Minnetrista Horticulture Department, with ongoing maintenance supported by CEP to ensure its lasting beauty. The new design provides safe cross-passage for visitors while showcasing multi-seasonal interest through thoughtfully selected, durable plantings that bring color and texture throughout the year.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to enhancing the public spaces that define our community. We’re grateful to the Delaware County Fair Board for recognizing CEP’s contribution and honoring us as one of their Major Sponsors.

Together, we’re creating welcoming and inspiring spaces that reflect the pride and spirit of Muncie.
