The oldest members of Generation Alpha are sophomores right now. They’re growing up in a world that brings big questions about identity, belonging, purpose, and faith. Research also reminds us how much trusted adults matter: young people want adults who listen without judging, and many say a regular mentor could help them grow in faith.

At Muncie Area Youth for Christ, we want to come alongside these young people through caring relationships and help them discover the hope of Jesus. We can’t do that alone. We need:

❤️ Adult volunteers who will show up, listen, and walk alongside young people.

❤️ Donors who help sustain the people and programs that make this ministry possible.

🙏 Prayer warriors who will lift up our teens, staff, and volunteers. This is ministry powered by God’s Spirit, and we depend on Him.

Meet Gen Alpha: young people growing up in a rapidly changing world, asking important questions about faith, identity, belonging, and purpose.

There are reasons for hope. In a 2024 survey of U.S. 11–13-year-olds, 65% identified as Christian, and family was the source they turned to most for guidance about right and wrong. In a separate national survey of teens ages 13–17, 40% said having a mentor they could talk with regularly would help them grow in faith.

Every young person has their own story, questions, and gifts. At Muncie Area Youth for Christ, we’re committed to meeting young people where they are, listening, building lasting relationships, and sharing the hope of Jesus.

Our mission is to reach young people throughout Delaware County, working alongside local churches and community partners to raise lifelong followers of Jesus. Our vision is for every young person in Delaware County to hear the Gospel during their middle or high school years—and have the opportunity to make an informed decision to follow Jesus and become part of a local church.

At our recent prayer night, we set aside time to think about the things that can weigh heavily on young people—the burdens that can feel like chains.

Those who came wrote some of those burdens on paper strips and linked them together. The chain became a visible reminder of the pain and struggles young people may carry. We prayed for Gen Alpha and all the youth in our community who may be facing anxiety, loneliness, depression, trauma, addiction, or painful patterns passed from one generation to the next.

Every young person’s story is different, and many struggles aren’t easy to see. Please join us in praying that God will bring hope and healing, surround young people with safe and caring adults, connect them with the support they need, and lead them into the freedom and new life found in Jesus.

Let’s keep covering the young people of Muncie and Delaware County in prayer—and keep showing up for them with love. ❤️

Muncie and Delaware County are home to teens in every neighborhood, school, and community. Let’s cover them in prayer.

As you look at this map, choose a place to pray for. Let’s not leave one area—or the surrounding communities—uncovered. Pray for young people to know they are seen and loved, to find caring adults who will walk alongside them, and to experience the hope and love of Jesus.

A full day of learning, fellowship, dreaming, and growing with our Muncie Area Youth for Christ board!

A healthy board brings leadership, wisdom, accountability, and care to the ministry. It helps keep our chapter focused on its mission and strengthens the foundation that allows us to serve young people well. We’re grateful our board had a full day to grow in their leadership and deepen their understanding of what makes a board healthy and effective.

A special thank-you to Dan Kregel for driving down from Michigan to present for us again. We appreciate his time and the insight he shared with our board.

We left with five next steps for our chapter—and fresh ideas and renewed purpose for the work ahead!

There’s a lot happening in this picture—but it starts with a game! 😄

At City Life Club, Matt and our leaders bring students together for a large-group gathering where they can have fun, get to know one another, and feel welcome. Icebreakers and games give everyone a way to join in, share some laughs, and begin building connections with their peers and the adults who care about them.

Those moments help create space for ACSR’s—authentic, Christ-sharing relationships. As Matt and the team listen, show up, and build trust, they can share the love of Jesus in ways that connect with students’ real lives. Our hope is that every young person has the opportunity to know Jesus and experience His love.

What would you like to do together? That’s the question behind this brainstorm from our Southside City Life students and Matt. The ideas on the board—from food to games and activities—came from the kids themselves, and Matt is planning alongside them.

At Youth for Christ, a building time is shared time doing something together. It gives students and caring adults a chance to relax, have fun, and build relationships. Our larger City Life gatherings bring students together for connection, community, and conversations about life and faith.

Those gatherings are one part of how we do relational ministry. We also connect with students during the week, meet one-on-one for appointments, and gather in small groups for deeper conversations. Each of these relational ministry actions helps us build authentic, Christ-sharing relationships with young people.

And it starts with showing up, listening, and sometimes asking the kids what they’d like to do next. ❤️

A little fun at Wendy’s with Matt from Southside City Life! 😄

Goofing off, sharing a few laughs, and spending time together may seem like simple moments—but they matter. Relationships grow through ordinary time together, when young people can relax, be themselves, and get to know the caring adults who show up for them.

Before the school day began, our City Life leaders gathered to pray. We’re grateful for each person who takes time to bring students before God and then shows up to build relationships with them throughout the school year.

City Life is Muncie Area Youth for Christ’s relational ministry, where caring adults connect with students, spend time alongside them, and encourage them as they grow in life and faith.

We’re thankful for our City Life leaders and the way they keep showing up for young people—one conversation and one school day at a time. 🧡
