8twelve Coalition

8twelve Coalition The 8twelve coalition was formed in 2015 as a grassroots effort to revitalize Muncie's Thomas Park/Avondale and South Central neighborhoods.

The 8twelve coalition is comprised of residents, non-profits and businesses working towards the common goal of revitalizing the 8twelve target area. The target area is bordered by 8th St. on the north, Memorial St. on the south, Perkins on the west and Madison on the east. This area was selected because it includes several important stakeholders, including the Ross Community Center and the Muncie

Mission. Additionally, much of the housing stock is in need of repair and there is a number of abandoned properties and overgrown lots. Spearheaded by Habitat for Humanity Muncie and funded by the Vectren Foundation, a neighborhood revitalization plan was created in 2015 as the result of several community meetings. A steering committee was formed and several committees are focusing on efforts to improve housing, beautify the area and support local businesses.

Congrats to our 8twelve business neighbor for 100 years in the neighborhood!

It’s tornado season, and that means facing unpredictable changes in weather forecasts. Having a plan set in place that your entire family is prepared to follow in the event of severe weather may just save a life.

So, here’s a few tips we’d like to share:
1. Create a family emergency plan and practice for dangerous situations before they become reality.
2. Identify the safest places in your home to shelter in.
3. Stay informed before, during, and after storms.

When we’re safe, we thrive
