A huge thank you to all who braved the rain this morning to help at Rotary Park! We spread 10 cubic yards of mulch, pulled weeds, planted flowers, and picked up the trash around the shelter. A great tribute to service above self from our Muncie Sunrise Rotarians!

We had a very inspirational presentation at Muncie Sunrise Rotary Club this morning given by Mark Goldman (a past president from the Portland Rotary Club) and his daughter Natalie. They gave a heartfelt talk about their trip to Japan due to a Rotarian friendship that began decades ago!
The club enjoyed a delicious carry-in breakfast this morning! Always a favorite club activity! 🤣
Bob was the lucky winner to take the Rapkin Riddler Quiz!

We had a busy and productive month this April!
April 3rd - Good Friday
April 10th - Steve Slavin with a real estate update
April 11th - Muncie Gateway Clean-Up (12 volunteer hours logged by our club).
April 14th - ViVA Banquet - many of our Sunrise crew attended the banquet. It was great to honor our local ViVA's.
April 18th - 6560 District Conference
April 21st - Habitat for Humanity Dream Builders Breakfast - We saw many Rotarians at the breakfast. We had 1 table, but I think we could have 2.
April 24th - Sunrise Rotary Carry-In Breakfast

Mark your calendars for upcoming meetings and events in May.

May 1st will be Lynn Hatfield discussing Special Needs Prom among other things.
May 8th we have Richard Shields and I think he will be talking about things that go BOOM in the night.
May 9th is Cecil Bohanon's retirement celebration — Don't forget to RSVP.
May 15th we will have Patrick Alyea discussing the Carl Erskine / FCA All-Abilities Camp.
May 16th - Rotary Park Mulch Day. - This could be the busiest day of the year so please plan to be there.
May 16th - Ball State Baseball Team linner. Game is at 1 so we will probably be serving around 3:30 or 4. We are serving lunch...closer to dinner time = Linner. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided. Look for the sign-up sheet that will be passed around for other items that will be needed.
May 22nd - President Elect Brad Polk will be detailing his plans for Rotary Year 2026-27.

This past Friday we enjoyed the Belize part 2 presentation from 2 more of Cecil Bohanon's students, Jay Crawford and Zeke Witter. Ball State did projects for the country of Belize and then traveled to Belize on Spring break to present their findings to the officials in Belize. Jay and Zeke gave us more of the inside scoop on the project and experience from a student view. On of the slides showed Cecil singing karaoke. The club was treated to a live version of Cecil singing Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley! This will definitely go down as an iconic moment in Muncie Sunrise Rotary Club history! 🤣🤣 Brad was the lucky winner to take the Rapkin Riddler Quiz! This week's topic-dolphins!! 🤣🐬🐬🐬
The Sunrise Club is gearing up for several events!
April 18th - Rotary District Conference 6560 - 9am held at Girl Scouts of Central Indiana 7201 Girl Scout Lane Indianapolis, IN 46214
April 24th - Carry-In Breakfast. A sign-up sheet will be passed around on Friday morning.
May 9th - Cecil Bohanon's Retirement Party.
May 16th - Rotary Park mulch day. We will need as many to show up that morning as possible. It is perhaps the busiest day of the year.
