Imagine playing a full-contact sport where your opponent might also become your friend.

One minute, you’re battling it out on the track. The next, you’re laughing and chatting with the person you were just trying to knock out of bounds.

That’s one of the things we love most about roller derby. We compete hard, but the camaraderie in the derby community is something pretty special. You make friends on your own team, build friendships with people you compete against, and have a whole lot of fun along the way.

And if you’ve ever thought, “I want to try that,” now’s your chance.

S14 Bootcamp is happening every Monday and Thursday through the end of October, and you can jump in at any practice. No previous skating or derby experience is necessary, and loaner gear is available.

• Mondays: 7–9 p.m.
• Thursdays: 8:30–10:30 p.m.
• Gibson Arena
• $5 per practice, capped at $25 per month
• Loaner gear available
• Bring your own mouthguard

Come learn the skills, meet some awesome people and see what roller derby is all about.

Come for the full-contact sport. Stay for the friendships.

We’ve been so busy with our Season 14 New Skater events that we haven’t had a chance to share one final bit of Season 13 business we wrapped up earlier this month!

Each season, Cornfed partners with a local nonprofit making a difference in Delaware County, donating a portion of our home bout proceeds to support their work.

During Season 13, our community partner was Ross Community Center, Inc., whose work focuses on building community through programs that support education, lifelong learning, health, and wellness.

On September 10, our Season 14 President, Cogginator, dropped off our donation. And we think the big check was a big hit!

We’re grateful to Ross Community Center for all they do for our community and proud to have supported their work during Season 13.

Learn more about Ross Community Center, Inc. on their page or at https://rosscentermuncie.org/
