Palandro-Ferry Foundation The Palandro-Ferry Foundation honors and memorializes Denny Palandro, Jr., Joe Ferry and his fiancé Kelly Wiseley. The two had just gotten engaged at Christmas.

The Palandro-Ferry Foundation is committed to honoring and memorializing two young Mummers – Dennis Palandro, Jr. and Joseph Ferry – who were members of the South Philadelphia String Band, and Joseph’s fiancé Kelly Wiseley who were tragically killed in a head-on crash in the early hours of January 2, 2019. Ferry’s fiancé, Kelly Wiseley, also lost her life in the accident. Palandro’s wife, Nicole,

was critically injured in the accident, but survived and has made a full recovery. The mission of the Foundation is to support the family, friends and communities of the Foundation, in their time of need, in memory of Denny, Jr., Joe and Kelly. The Foundation was initially formed by NJ chef, restauranteur and former Mummer Angelo Lutz. Lutz has been a very close family friend of Palandro’s father, Dennis Sr. (who is the captain of the South Philadelphia String Band), and knew Dennis Jr. for his entire life.

We received this heartfelt note of thanks and appreciation from Charlie Deitz, this year’s Clearview Regional High School scholarship recipient in memory of Denny Palandro, Jr.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Palandro,

I would like to sincerely thank you for choosing me to be the recipient of the Palandro-Ferry Memorial Scholarship. I am deeply honored and humbled to receive an award created in memory of your son Denny.

Coach Mike has talked about your son many times to us. Although I did not have the privilege of knowing him, it is clear from the love which with he is remembered and from the purpose of this award that he was an extraordinary person. Knowing Denny shared a love for hockey as I do, makes this recognition even more meaningful to me.

To be recognized, not just as a hockey player, but for my character, is one of the greatest compliments I could receive. I hope to live in a way that reflects the values this award represents - kindness, integrity, perseverance, and respect for others.

My family and I would truly value the opportunity to stay connected to your organization in any way we can, whether through supporting events, or volunteering as needed.

Thank you for turning such a heartbreaking loss into something that continues to encourage and inspire young athletes. Because of your generosity, Denny’s legacy lives on through the players who receive this honor each year. I will always be grateful to be one of them.

The Palandro-Ferry Memorial Foundation is proud to announce that the 2026 Clearview Regional High School recipient of a $2,000 scholarship in memory of Denny Palandro, Jr. is Charles Deitz III. Denny Jr.'s parents, Board Members Jeanne and Denny Sr., attended the School's Awards Ceremony to make the presentation. Charles will be playing 18u hockey again, while taking online college classes this fall. Also participating in the presentation with Charles and his parents was Clearview Head Ice Hockey Coach Mike Wolk. Mike was one of Denny Jr.’s best friends and hockey teammates at Clearview. Please join us in congratulating Charles!
