We have been out in the farmworker community in Mulberry for the last few days. Most of our families have been without power and, luckily, many received power last night! This has been a tough few days with lack of food and water. We would like to express gratitude to all of the churches have reached out with food and supplies. First United Methodist Church has sent food supplies and also housed a group of workers at the church through the storm. It was such a tremendous relief and an immediate call to action! Mulberry Methodist, FAM Church and Willow Oak Assembly provided hot meals over the last three days in the camps and trailer parks. To Bobby Williams and Freedom Tour for the timely donation of water to meed an immediate and urgent need. To Joe Hesson and One More Child for all of the vegetables, bread and milk. Joe made a run to Wauchula yesterday and stayed late to help us fill three vehicles to take out.

To the churches that continue to send help and to collect, thank you. It is hard to understand just how hard some families can be hit even by not having access to water and food for the week. The students have been out of school since Tuesday and many children in our community depend on our schools for not only education but for nutrition needs. Thank you again to everyone who has helped others in this time.

--Also, a very special thank you to RCMA staff, former students, Adelante Club, Siempre Connectados, Summerlin admin and staff, teachers and staff from Willow Oak School, MMS, and MHS that have come out to assist in distribution and in encouraging the young people. Sometimes showing up makes all of the difference.

We had a great turnout of the Adelante group at the College & Career night! Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped tonight! Our young people are working on some really awesome service projects! We look forward to sharing more in the near future!

This year's Back to School Bash will be August 6 at the Mulberry High School. Elementary students who attend school in Mulberry at Purcell, Sykes, or Willow Oak School will receive 2 school shirts and a backpack filled with supplies. The first 500 students to register at the Mulberry Community Service Center will receive a backpack and uniform shirts. We will planning for vendors to be present, food, and other activities and giveaways. If you would like to support our Mulberry Students please reach out to 863-425-1523!
