It's Membership Monday! Meet Colette Dahl, a Member-At-Large on your MEA Executive Board!

This bulldog mom loves to travel, plunge in new waters, and is a competitive bidder at silent auctions!

What is your happy place outside of work? This is especially fun to think about on the penultimate Monday of our school year!

Students Celebrating Pride Month 🌈🌈

Across Mukilteo School District, students are finding meaningful ways to build connection, celebrate one another, and create welcoming school communities for everyone. June’s Pride Month activities are one example of how schools support student belonging through positive, student-centered experiences.

At one school, students are preparing a Crew Time lesson focused on inclusion, kindness, and supporting one another. Student groups are also planning fun activities throughout the week, including a PRIDE Club celebration with cake, snacks, and a spirited march around campus. A little birdie told us that they may even hide tiny rainbow ducks around their school for students and staff to discover.

Student leaders have been creating opportunities for connection and belonging all year long. From the Rainbow Connection group’s participation in this spring’s Celebrate Diversity Night to helping staff create bulletin boards and displays recognizing heritage and awareness months, students and staff continue to celebrate the many identities, cultures, and experiences that make each school community unique.

Happy Membership Monday!! Meet Toure Pruitt a Member-At-Large on the MEA Executive Board!

Question of the day: If you were suddenly dropped into a fantasy world, what class would you be? what would be your most questionable character flaw?

It's Membership day! Meet your MECU Rep on the MEA Executive Board, Josh Olson!

Name: Josh Olson
Hometown: Everett, WA
Schools: Fairmount, Discovery, Voyager, Mariner
College: Washington State University
Career: Math, PE/Health Teacher Mariner HS

I loved being a student in Mukilteo, the teachers I had and the community that helped me along the way so much that I came back to help the teach next generation. I coach at Explorer and Voyager and help the freshmen success team. Outside of school I love traveling, camping (with our cat) and tailgating in Pullman with my wife who also teaches in the district. I love trading dad jokes in class with the kids.

What’s your favorite dad joke?

It's Membership Monday! Meet your Middle School Representative on the MEA Executive Board, Roni Cook!

With 32 years of experience teaching students with significant disabilities — including the past seven in Mukilteo — I am passionate about ensuring every student feels supported and valued. In addition to teaching, I mentor a FIRST Robotics team, serve as treasurer for my Alpha Delta Kappa chapter, sit on the MEA Executive Board, and represent educators on the WEA Special Education Committee. This spring, I was honored to receive the Alpha Delta Kappa Excellence in Education Award.

Each June, I proudly walk in the Seattle Pride Parade with educators from across the state. Outside of school, I enjoy cheering on the Sounders, Seahawks, and Mariners, visiting stadiums when I travel, and embracing my love of Disney — because it’s always a good day to be at Disneyland! Goofy is my favorite.

Who is your Favorite Character?

It's Membership Monday! Meet Nancy Everroad, a teacher at Serene Lake in the running to be named America's Favorite Teacher!

In the old days I was Ms. Fee.

Before smartboards, before smartphones, before Google Classroom, I was making xerox copies and believing with everything I had that kindness could change a room. My students taught me that.

I am Nancy Everroad and I have been teaching in the Mukilteo School District for over 35 years. I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most dedicated, caring educators I have ever known, school after school, team after team, people who show up every single day because they believe it matters.

I still believe it matters.

Before the next chapter begins, I want to leave something lasting: a movement called Kindness Unites Us and a book called Mission Driven Teacher.

I am competing in America's Favorite Teacher and would be honored to have the vote of the people I have had the privilege of working alongside.

Voting is free. It is daily. Once every 24 hours through May 21st.
