A seven-member board of directors represents you. Your road maintenance and security services are the responsibility of this board. Your board also oversees many other activities benefiting landowners. All landowners benefit from the contract employment of the KWLA security officers as our security guards. Some of their time is spent at the guardhouse with the majority spent on random patrol, day
or night. Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Pushmataha County Sheriff officers also make frequent drives through the wilderness at no additional expense to us. Please give a thank you and a smile when you see them. Everyone who lives in or visits the wilderness uses the roads. With the hard work of a highly skilled equipment operator and a number of dedicated volunteers we have managed to keep the roads in good condition most all of the time. We purchased a new NewHolland backhoe Mar 2008, used Dump trucks in Oct 2013 and a used road grader in Jan 2005. With the addition of this equipment we are experiencing much less downtime and lower maintenance cost but have had to maintain a fairly large equipment loan. Our association operates on membership dues paid and contributions from landowners. Dues are only $150.00 a year and can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. That is a very small amount and has not changed for many years. It is a sad fact that of nearly 800 landowners only 15% are paid-up members. This simply means the more dues payers we have the better the roads and security will be. Dues and contributions may be paid to a board member or mailed to: KWLA P.O. Box 100 Moyers OK 74557
