FLOCK CAMERAS: Just noticed we now have Flock systems. There are two. One in between Casey’s and Dollar General and the other on the Golf Course property. These don’t replace police officers, but they are also very costly for a small government that can’t keep the budget in tact. These are roughly $6,000 - $8,000 EACH. How did we budget for these? Anyone have any information on the purchase?

Maybe we need to change this pages name to Moweaqua, IL Village Government Watch. 😂
I knew this was coming. We also need to explore why it’s necessary for Police Chief Hale is allowed to drive his black F150 police unit home in Mt. Zion, IL twice a day. Chris Hale has also been seen driving that police truck all the way to Sam’s Club in Decatur. There needs to be reform and a definite need for an outside audit for sure. I’m calling for the immediate resignation of Chris Hale and the appointment of a new police chief that will actually reside here in town within a five minute response time!

The board said this isn't about one department, but whether overtime policies are being followed.

“Can you post anonymously? I’m concerned about the integrity and honesty of the Moweaqua police department. Chief hale lives in Decatur, IL. Chief hale is also misusing the police truck. He’s been seen multiple times shopping at Sam’s Club in Decatur and no using the police truck as his own personal vehicle. If som**hing bad would kick off here in town, he has at least a 18-20 min drive time even with lights and sirens activated. There are questionable actions of three other officers in town; actions that are completely rogue and represent professional misconduct. This entire police department has a brutal history of harassing people. The Mayor turns a blind eye because she thinks they do no wrong. If you file a complaint with the Mayor the harassment only gets worse. It’s time to call in someone that can police the police such as the US Department of Justice. Hell, look what the Village did to former police chief Rob Maynard aka “mate”. Best chief of police around and yet city counsel votes to fire him? Changes need made and remember this when it’s time to vote. Mayor Conlin either needs to step away from her position and resign or take action on her police chief and her civil rights violating officers. The Moweaqua police department is about as useless as a screen door on a submarine. Rather than being vigilant with our neighbors, we need to be more vigilant with these police force”

Back on September 25, 2024 this page reported on a Moweaqua, IL man arrested on FELONY child s*x charges and attempting to have s*xual contact with a 12 yr old girl. We want to keep our community informed of the progress of this case as we feel it’s necessary to protect our children in our community. BRAXTON L. JAYNE owner of FAITH BUILDERS CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING in has now been taken off the GPS ankle monitor, so now his whereabouts are not tracked by law enforcement. This fact that this “man” and his business does residential work with children present is quite alarming and people need to know who and what they are dealing with. See previous postings about this predator and the harm he’s caused. This man will also get his phone back from Moweaqua Police which is the same phone he used to lure a child for s*x acts. On cases such as this, we do NOT believe in “innocent until proven guilty”…..especially when this man fully admitted to law enforcement of talking to this minor child in a s*xual way.

BREAKING UPDATE to a Murder/suicide investigation first broke right here. The Shelby County Coroner released the names in their ongoing investigations.

A reliable source tells us that the female victim in this case filed for divorce in Shelby County just last month. It’s likely this tragic event spawned from this divorce petition, but at this point it’s speculation.

Our sincerest thoughts and extended prayers to the family, friends, and co-workers of the deceased.

MURDER/SUICIDE INVESTIGATION: Illinois State Police currently on scene with local agencies with Moweaqua Police investigating what appears to be a crime scene in progress. At approximately 07:50 AM, EMS and police were called to a residence in Moweaqua for two victims down, not breathing and CPR not given.

According to our sources, it appears to be a husband/wife domestic situation. Names and address are being withheld pending family notification. Stay tuned and watch for more Breaking News on this ongoing investigation.
