**Player Safety Alert**
We want to make everyone aware of a safety concern in the Mountlake Terrace area and ask families to be especially vigilant at games, practices, and while traveling to and from fields.
Earlier this week, the Edmonds School District notified families of an assault near Cedar Way Elementary that is being investigated by the Mountlake Terrace Police Department. We have also learned of a separate, similar incident involving a TBSC player. According to the player’s family, police have received at least several more reports of similar incidents in the area.
Police have described the individual they are seeking as a Hispanic man in his 30s, heavier set, with short, buzzed hair. Earlier reports described him wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts.
This morning, an individual believed to match that description was seen driving near the TBSC player’s game at Mountlake Terrace High School. The player’s family reported that he was wearing a gray T-shirt and driving a dark gray sedan.
Please use extra caution and keep players close, particularly in parking lots and when arriving at or leaving fields. Players should not be walking alone when it can be avoided.
Most importantly, if you see suspicious behavior, do not approach, confront, follow, or attempt to intervene. Call 911 immediately and let law enforcement handle it. A person or vehicle matching these general descriptions alone is not a reason to confront someone. If you can safely note a vehicle description, license plate, direction of travel, location, or other identifying information, provide that directly to police.
Please also remind your players to stay aware of their surroundings, remain with teammates or trusted adults, and immediately find a coach, parent, or other trusted adult if something feels wrong.
We want everyone to remain vigilant, not vigilante. Our priority is keeping our players and families safe and making sure law enforcement receives information as quickly as possible.
