We would love to have something like this at the Heritage Society, are there any antique hobbyists that would like to volunteer their time? Or perhaps we could just have an antiques show and tell! Bring your family treasure and share it with the group. Let us know if that's something you would be interested in!

It's that time of year! Bring your treasures to show and tell at our Annual Faux Antique Roadshow! Our Antique hobbyists will try to put a price or answer questions.

For our friends interested in the Number 12 School near Chester in Crawford County, please consider reaching out with any information you may have on its restoration. There is currently an effort to revive the work done to save this historic building, but much information on its status as a Historic property is lost. Please share what you might have and we'll share it with the new group forming to save this wonderful piece of history.

If you missed your chance to get a copy and meet Kaitlyn when she was here in December, here is an opportunity to get a discount on a great book! It would be a great gift for Mother's Day, which will be here sooner than we know!

Our new project, Arkansans at War, will feature interviews with veterans with the aim to capture their backgrounds and experiences in war and the years that followed. Former war correspondent Amy Schlesing will conduct the interviews to document histories and combat experiences. If you are a veteran of Iraq or Afghanistan and would like to be a part of this project, please email the Arkansans at War Oral History Project at [email protected]. We are honored to be involved in preserving these vital memories from those who served in our military.

For our teacher friends!
You might ask yourself "I'm a K-12 educator - is this program for me?"

Yes! Since May 2024, Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts has been registered as a professional development provider through the Arkansas Department of Education. While educators are welcome to attend any Community Scholars program (and will find great benefit from it), AFTA does offer periodic versions of the program tailored specifically for educators.

We hope you can join us for our first Community Scholars Training session this spring! It will take place in Mountainburg beginning on February 19! Register at the link below!

Our next sessions will be March 5th, March 19th, April 2nd, and April 16th. You don't want to miss this!
