We can’t wait to welcome you to the Abó Unit as we launch our 2026 Dark Sky season. Rangers and volunteers have been preparing telescopes, gathering astronomy equipment, and getting the site ready to offer you a memorable experience under the stars.

The program begins at 7PM, and we encourage visitors to arrive with warm layers, water, red-filtered flashlights, and a sense of adventure. Whether you come to look through telescopes, enjoy the stillness of the desert night, or learn about the deep cultural ties between people and the sky, we’re honored to have you join us!

It’s written in the 💫! Come volunteer with us at these remarkable dark sky events! 🔭

When the sun slips behind the mountains, the real show begins—and you can help run it. 🔭✨

As a Dark Sky Volunteer, you’ll be part of a tight‑knit team that will help to keep the night smooth and safe during our 2026 Dark Sky Events Season!
Your role: greet guests, assist with telescopes, share basic night‑sky orientation, support Jr. Ranger activities and help with event setup/teardown—then enjoy the stars!

Event nights happen at the Abó Unit; shifts are 4–5 hours with on‑site orientation and a safety overview before we begin.
