Well, color me patriotic! To celebrate the in 1976, fire hydrants in cities across the USA were painted in an array of colors and designs – and was no exception.

Residents painted 186 hydrants that year, with each requiring a permit and a fee: $6 for one, $17.76 for three or $19.76 for four, and which included paint and a brush.

History and art meet at the train depot: Mountain View Historical Association board members braved the heat on June 11 to celebrate the unveiling of the new artwork, created by award-winning local artist John Patrick Thomas on panels adorning Mountain View’s classic train depot.
