4-H teaches leadership, citizenship, and skills children will use through out their lives. Each year Arkansas 4-H youth receive more than $80,000 in college scholarships at the state level for their 4-H work. Some scholarships are available at the county level.

We are bringing in experts in goat cheesemaking to teach a workshop to 4-H'ers 8th grade and older on Tuesday, May 12th. This workshop will include a farm tour, hands-on cheesemaking, cheese tasting, and information about goat milk and sanitation. This workshop will be beneficial to youth with dairy goat 4-H projects or healthy living 4-H projects.

We’ve got 6 poultry webinars this spring geared toward poultry management, disease prevention and other issues that could affect flocks. 🐥

All webinars will be 6-7 p.m. via Zoom. They’re free, but require registration: uaex.uada.edu/avian-flu

Dr. Dustan Clark, extension veterinarian with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, will kick off the series March 24 by sharing updates on poultry diseases affecting flocks.

Have a high school senior planning to study plant science in college?

Have them apply by March 13 for the Janet B. Carson Master Gardener Scholarship. The scholarship is $2,000 for the 2026-27 year.

Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in a plant science-related field, such as Horticulture, Botany, Agronomy, Forestry, Plant Science, Landscape Architecture/Design and Turfgrass science.

The Pumpkin and Watermelon Contest Event Registration is now open in ZSuite!
• Event Registration Deadline (Seed order): March 27, 2026

• State Contest: October 10, 2026
• Only official 2026 seeds from the Arkansas 4-H State Office may be used.
• 4-H’ers must be enrolled in the ZSuite system and in the Pumpkin & Watermelon event by March 27th to be eligible.
• The 2026 State Weigh-In will be held on October 10, 2026, at the Arkansas State Fair. More information to come!

The Stone County Extension Office is hosting a "Farmstead Seminar", Friday March 20th, located at the Big Building at the Stone County Fairgrounds. Registration will start at 8:30 am, program at 9:00 am. and last until 3:00pm. There is NO COST to attend, but our hope is that this program is extremely valuable to you and worth your time. We hope to take an in-depth dive into these topics.

Stone County 4-H Members who are enrolled for 2026 can sign up. 4-H members will receive 15 Hy-line Brown Chicks to raise throughout the year and exhibit three birds at the Stone County Fair in the fall.
