Mountain View is revising its historic homes registry.

In 2003 City representatives knocked doors to potential historic homes. They asked if owners would like to be on the registry. If they said yes, they would have to mandatorily follow historic guidelines when doing any work on their homes. If they answered no, they would not.

There was also a THIRD OPTION, the option to VOLUNTARILY be on that list and to choose to comply or not, but the choice was that of the homeowner.

THE PROBLEM is that homeowners who chose to voluntarily try to respect the architectural styles of homes and expand or modify with that respect, WERE THEN PLACED ON THE LIST OF HISTORIC HOMES ONLY ONE YEAR LATER.

As it stands, if you were on that voluntary list, you are now MANDATED to comply with historic restrictions.

If you happen to be on that "voluntary" list, but have been constrained by it, we want to hear from you. Please either DM us or comment below.

Mountain View police are looking for two suspects associated with an assault on the Stevens Creek Trail Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1 pm on September 1, officers responded to the Stevens Creek Trail between Creekside Park and Central Expressway after a woman called us to report that she had been assaulted.

According to the victim, about 15 minutes prior to our arrival, she was walking on the trail when she was approached by two men who came out of the bushes. The men attempted to grab the woman, but she screamed and fought back. At one point, one of the men also attempted to pull the woman’s pants down. The victim, a Sunnyvale resident, was able to run away and call us from a safe location.

Despite an extensive search of the area by patrol officers, traffic officers and detectives, neither suspect was found.

One of the suspects is described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 30 with curly blonde hair, wearing a gray shirt and jeans. The second suspect was also described as a white man in his 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a large build and brown hair, wearing a blue shirt and jeans.

Officers spent some time with the victim to work to get additional details before releasing this information to the public to ensure we had enough information to share. We are continuing to investigate this incident and ensure that there are resources for the victim.

If you see anyone matching this description, please call us immediately at 9-1-1.

NOW ACCEPTING MASK DONATIONS: We are happy to announce that we now have the capacity to accept mask donations for vulnerable populations in our community.
Masks can either be disposable or be reusable (i.e. cloth masks) and can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. here at 1000 Villa Street. As we receive donations, they will in turn be distributed to vulnerable individuals and families, such as those who are unstably housed, homeless, or those who are elderly.
When you come to drop off your donation, please press the ‘call button’ on the yellow intercom to the right of our front doors – our lobby is only open for appointments at the moment. Once you call in, someone will open the doors for you to drop off your donation.
We know that facial coverings are a priority for our community right now, and your donations will make a difference in all of us working together to slow the spread of COVID19. We continue to work to serve all of our community, and this is just another step we are pleased to be able to take to do just that.
If you have a large donation of masks that you would like to contribute (i.e. 100 or more), please reach out to Jennifer Copeland at 650-903-6385.
