The Preschool Teacher Poem: LUCDA Addition!

From Alpine to Afton,
From Thayne to Kemmerer too,
Through Bridger Valley and Evanston,
There’s important work our teachers do.

They tie little shoes and zip up coats,
And wipe small tears and runny noses.
They teach the alphabet, shapes, and songs,
While surviving germs in tiny doses.

They manage feelings big and loud,
From joy to tears in seconds flat.
One child is missing their backpack,
One’s wearing somebody else’s hat.

They teach the days, the months, the weather,
And colors, counting, how to share.
While somebody’s eating crayons,
And someone cut their own dang hair.

They follow lesson plans and curriculum,
Track milestones, growth, and learning too.
Meet Head Start standards and licensing rules,
With paperwork always coming through.

They know the forms, the screenings, the regs,
The deadlines, audits, all the rest.
And still make every child feel safe,
Supported, valued, and their best.

They teach much more than numbers and letters,
They build confidence, kindness, and trust.
Helping tiny humans find their voice,
Because those early years matter so much.

So here’s to our preschool teachers—
The patient, strong, and often tired.
Doing some of the hardest work there is,
And somehow staying inspired.

Because in the wild world of early childhood,
Where every day brings something new,
The real magic lives in teachers
And the life-changing work they do.
