It is with deep sadness that we post the passing of George J. Mizzer and Joseph J. Kachurak, St. Vincent School graduates from the class of 1961. Both served as leaders and contributed to sports—George as a high-scoring player and Jimmy as manager—helping their team win the Catholic League Championship that year.

George and Jimmy were men of faith, devoted to their families and careers, remaining lifelong friends along with other classmates. When the St. Vincent School Alumni Association struggled in 2010 and its founders could no longer continue, George and Jimmy stepped up, helping keep the Vinnies spirit alive and our annual all-class-reunions ongoing.

In Orthodox and Catholic Christianity, dying during Holy Week or Eastertide is thought to be a blessing, as it symbolizes immediate entry into heaven due to the season's holiness. People believe those who pass at this time avoid spiritual trials because heaven’s gates are open.

Gentlemen, you both will be missed. REST IN PEACE.
