ALS One Hope is a Non Profit Organization working closely with The ALS Association Philadelphia Chapter. ALS One Hope was created to honor the memory of Ken Malkemes, Jr. Kenny was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was a brilliant civil engineer and loved to serve his community. One of his greatest loves was hiking the Appalachian Trail which he completed Augus

t 9, 2009 after 23 years. He started getting sick in September, 2009 with a drop foot and was diagnosed with ALS on March 27, 2012. Kenny passed away on April 14, 2016. ALS One Hope provides resources, medical equipment(not covered by medical insurance), holiday gift cards, etc. to support local families living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Kenny lived his life to the fullest and faced every challenge with courage & fortitude. In doing so he has inspired us to do the same. We HOPE you will join us in raising awareness and supporting our fundraising events

It's that time of year again!!! ALS One Hope will be at Helen and Ed's Tree Farm🌲running the Hot Chocolate Stand starting Friday, November 28th and every Saturday and Sunday following, up until Christmas. I am not having a raffle for supplies this year, instead I created a Amazon gift registry. Supplies purchased will be sent directly to my home. You can also send monetary donations through Venmo(ALS One Hope). I will post the QR code for Venmo shortly and if you are mailing a check, please message me for my address. NO donation is too small and every $ makes a difference. Money left over from supplies and additional donations will be added to proceeds made from the Hot Chocolate Stand and given to this years family/families. We have several this year.

As most of you know...
ALS One Hope, a non-profit, was started in 2017 honoring the memory of my husband, Kenneth L. Malkemes, Jr., who passed away in April, 2016 from Amyothrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. We have provided gift cards around the holidays, monetary gifts, medical equipment, and even helped with a couple renovations allowing patients to be more comfortable in their own homes with their families. To quote one of my favorite ladies...We "do small things with great love" and it would not be possible without you!!!! Thank you for your continued support♥️

As Independence Day marks the 86th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's 'Luckiest Man' farewell speech, we are reminded of just how far we have come in terms of knowledge and and research.

While tremendous advances to cure are made in labs each day, a treatment or cure is yet to be uncovered. On this July 4 holiday, we reflect in a lesson from our country's forefathers: Together, anything is possible.

I am thankful to have met the Seltzer family today and presented them with a $5,000 check, proceeds from our Hot Chocolate stand. I was deeply grateful for this heartfelt time spent with Jason and his family. Please continue to keep these lovely people in your prayers as they navigate the challenging journey of ALS ahead of them.

I cannot thank everyone enough for supporting our Coco Stand this year at Helen & Ed's Tree Farm. Whether you participated in the raffle held beforehand to purchase supplies, came to the farm, or made a donation, we could not be more thankful and ended up raising $5,000.00 for the Seltzer family. I will be meeting and presenting the family with a check shortly and will keep you informed.

ALS One Hope would like to give special thanks to Helen & Ed's Tree Farm for their continued love and support. Along with Irene Ziegler & family for creating/donating our amazing cake pops, Abe's Hot Dogs(Jordan) for donating the majority of our hot chocolate this year and The Good Hive, who provide honey for tea sold at the stand.

I cannot forget my helper elves in the stand, Mary Ann Zearfoss, Kelly Rerick and Sarah Smigelski. It was a cold one this year!!! Also, thank you Ashley Zearfoss, Jason Kline, Kristen & Matt Mizikoski for always helping me one way or another😘😘😘
