📣 Butte Fire 10th Year Recovery Celebration Concert at the Mountain Ranch Park 📣

We will be gathering next Sunday to go, celebrate our resilience to rebuild community, homes, and restore the landscape. Please join us to share your story or songs, memories, and current understandings about surviving the Butte fire.
•
We can share in the grief together and open a space for recovery and healing 10 years later. We encourage everyone to come out picnic style and share any foods that have been growing in your yards, gardens, and farms. Enjoy the sunset over the mountains with the sounds and songs of grassroots… Of a strong community guided by compassion.

Just another reason to gather with your community!
We are really excited to create this event to help get you BULK cool season seeds (Peas, carrots, brassicas, Asian greens, Fava beans, beets and radishes, and soil building cover crop) in the ground!
•
There will be our usual educational speakers providing us with in depth information and discussion about varying topics related to processing and preserving food after harvesting and life on the land preparing for winter.
•
If you enjoy our soup bar at the Seed & Scion Exchange, then you’ll love our delicious and variable salad bar!
We love feeding you food from our communities gardens!
(Get in touch if you’re able to provide a salad bar dish such as 3 bean salad, deviled eggs, dressings, condiments, nuts, etc)
•
We have a special “Dehydrated Potluck-Sun Dried Food” Demonstration Project that will be hosted at the San Andreas Master Gardeners the last 2 weeks of September where you can bring your extra fruit or veggies from your garden to dry. Stay tuned for more details!

VENDORS welcome! Do you have a product you create from your land or garden? Please sign up!
•
And to make sure all the children in our community have an inspiring activity, we are putting together the Children’s Harvest Art Show!!! Let’s see what the children are learning, thinking about, and need more of by witnessing their creativity! (There will be a selected drawing winner and treasure).

The season is shifting and I’m offering the medley of materials for all kinds of basketry projects! The classroom will be shifting to the usual creek sanctuary area with Umuucha style cedar bark tipis. The ecology along the creek and springs is flourishing and enriching my soul!

Next is coil weaving with pine needles and cordage or thread. I’m in love with the evolution of pine needle basket culture being practiced in the world.
•
These baskets take time and repetitive stitching patterns to create. Finger strength needed.

I wanted to offer a class that you could gift your mother for Mother’s Day! ☺️🌸 The garden is an extension of her life and natural beauty she cultivates from within.
•
You don’t need to be a mom to join us, however, so please come and make a strong, beautifully woven trellis for your garden.
•
We will be working with thicker willow so some hand strength is needed. We also move around a lot for this one. On the ground, kneeling, standing up, and sitting.
•

🌿WILLOW BASKETRY WORKSHOP🌿

It’s finally the season to harvest and sort the wild willow on and around the lands I live with and steward. The willow stand along Jesus Maria Creek is bursting with this year’s growth ready to be turned into a basket and sequester carbon in a unique way.
•
I’m so excited to share this craft and skill with you all. Each of the Willow Workshops will have 6 spaces available.
Please email me that you’d like a space and I will prompt you with how to pay in advance and secure your spot.
No refunds or exchanges on cancellations.

May this month bring in the last of the year’s bounty while making room for skills, crafts, and the art of living with the land.
