Serving all 21 counties
Inclusive nursery program Our teachers and therapists use individualized plans based on each child and family's need.

Founded in 1996 in Mountain Lakes, we provide life-changing early intervention, family support and nursery programs to NJ infants + toddlers with hearing loss.

501(c)3 nonprofit powered by philanthropy! Sound Start Babies Program helps babies with hearing loss through home visits, telehealth services, full-day school programs and family support and education. State funding does not cover the costs for these services until a baby reaches age 3 -- after the critical window of brain development has passed -- so the Sound Start Foundation fundraises to fill this gap.

Meet the Sound Start Babies team!

Whether you're new to the SSB family or have been part of our community for years, we thought it was time for some (re)introductions.

We love sharing an updated look at the people behind our mission each year. With new families and friends joining our community all the time (and often some wonderful new faces on our team), there's always someone new to meet!

We're biased, but we think we have the DREAM TEAM here at Sound Start Babies!!

268 copies of this beautiful postcard are making their way into mailboxes, each carrying a heartfelt thank you for helping make FY26 such an extraordinary year for Sound Start Babies! 💌

To every individual, foundation, business, and organization that invested in our mission and the life-changing power of early intervention, we are immensely grateful. Your generosity made an incredible year of growth and impact possible.

As heartfelt (and adorable!) as this postcard is, no amount of words could fully express the depth of our gratitude. Thank you for being part of the SSB family and making a difference in the lives of babies with hearing loss and their families. 💙 🧡💛

Didn’t receive a postcard? Please reach out so we can double-check your mailing address! These postcards were sent to donors who made a gift during our 2026 fiscal year (September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026).

What a DAY!! 🦁 🐧 🦒 🦅

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Zoo Day! We loved bringing current and alumni families together for fun, friendship, and connection.

A special thank you to our donors and Board of Trustees for making this day possible…and for treating the children to feeding the giraffes!

We’re so grateful for opportunities like this and look forward to many more.

It's Zoo Day! As a reminder, we're meeting at the gate at 10am and will distribute t-shirts and nametags. We will have some activities in the Gazebo from 10:30-12:30, but you're welcome to explore the zoo and visit with families however you'd like. BYO lunch or purchase it at the Zoo.

It's a beautiful day to come together with over 150 members of the SSB community! See you soon.
