Sound Start Babies HQ in Mountain Lakes, NJ serving all 21 counties. Our teachers and therapists use individualized plans based on each child and family's need.

30 years of providing life-changing, research-validated early intervention, family support and nursery programs to NJ infants and toddlers with hearing loss.

501(c)3 nonprofit powered by philanthropy! Sound Start Babies Program helps babies with hearing loss through home visits, telehealth services, full-day school programs and family support and education. State funding does not cover the costs

for these services until a baby reaches age 3 -- after the critical window of brain development has passed -- so the Sound Start Foundation fundraises to fill this gap.

We worked with 84 families, providing services in person and virtually, and conducting evaluations and assessments. We are proud to serve families in all 21 counties of New Jersey.

And four of our friends turned 3, transitioning out of Early Intervention ready and prepared for the next chapter!

She was born with bilateral, moderately severe sensorineural hearing loss and wears two hearing aids. She began working with Sound Start Babies at 4 months old and is now a thriving, giggly little girl ready for anything thanks to her “sound start.”

Meet Jack 🧡

Jack was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at 6 weeks old and is now a thriving one year old. He began working with the Sound Start team soon after diagnosis, underwent cochlear implant surgery earlier this year, and will join the nursery this fall.

It’s a joy to watch him learn and grow and we know he’s just getting started!

Your gift makes our work possible and accessible through professional development, books, sensory tools, therapist travel throughout NJ, toys for pretend play, technology, and community events for current and alumni families.

Mackenzie and her family first started working with Sound Start Babies when she was 6 months old. And boy, has she grown and flourished in the time since!
