At our last meeting, we heard from Matthew Kasinger, the Arkansas State Leader for Hives for Heroes, as he shared more about the organization’s mission and the impact it is making for Veterans, First Responders and pollinator health. 🐝

Hives for Heroes uses beekeeping to create connection, purpose and healing while building stronger communities and helping protect our pollinators. Matthew also takes the mission into local schools to educate students and shares his locally produced honey at the Cotter Farmers Market.

A big thank you to Seth Guin for helping us connect with Matthew and bringing such an inspiring speaker to Rotary!

We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about an organization that truly lives out the spirit of Service Above Self. 🐝💛

The Mountain Home Rotary met yesterday at Big Creek Country Club. Our guest speaker was Steve Blumreich from Friends of the Norfork Fish Hatchery. Steve filled us in and updated us on what has been going on with Norfork Fish Hatchery and the reduction of stock trout put in the river. Attached will be some info on what has been going on. Most of it has got to do with weather, heat, rain, cloudy water, etc, which set the stage for parasites, oxygen levels, etc. Good info.
We also had guests and a new member induction. One visitor was Kyle Camp, Managing Broker from Century 21 LeMac Realty. I shoulda asked him if he was related to Wayne Camp. Wayne was my teacher in a real estate class 40 years ago. I shoulda went ahead and got my license. I coulda made more money than just being a doctor in Mtn. Home.
Then, we had had Mackenzie Buchanan. Mackenzie is an insurance agent with Affordable Insurance. She was a guest of Amber Solomon.
Then, we inducted Whitney Stanifer as a new member. Whitney was previously a guest of Amber Solomon. Guess who's active in this club at getting new members. We need more, and Amber needs help.

The Rotary Club is always looking for more members/volunteers to help with our attendance and projects. Projects take manpower. Most require little effort and don't take much time, but they can make an impact on the needs in this community................and worldwide.

The Mountain Home Rotary met on Thursday at Big Creek Country Club / Golf Course. Our speakers were from ERA Doty Real Estate. They were Steve Doty (Owner/Broker) and Heather Hendricks (Managing Broker). I think this was the first time for me to meet Steve, but Heather used to be a member of Rotary and I've got many pictures of her somewhere in my computer. Steve and Heather were here to talk about the current and future state of real estate in the Mountain Home area. As with any business in this country, there are ups and downs, and much of it has to do with politics, interest rates, and cycles. I remember when interest rates were over 10% in the early '80s. So, read the charts in the pictures to get an idea.
We had two guests today. Erin Geyer, a mental health therapist. I think Erin came to the meeting to see some of her old clients. I'm sure there were several of them. Then..............there was Kim Tilley from Bank of the Ozarks. I think Kim has visited at least one other time.

The Rotary Club of Mountain Home has named its leadership team for 2026. The club shared the news as members continue their work serving the community under Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”

Rebecca Raynor takes over as the club’s new president. She succeeds Allen Moore, who led the club over the past year and now serves as immediate past president. Raynor begins her term guiding the club’s mission and activities for the year ahead.

The Mountain Home Rotary had a regular, formal meeting on Thursday. No guest speaker. We installed new Board members and a new President...............Rebecca Raynor. And.............we had a lot of Happy Bucks. We have a lake day on Lake Norfork coming up. All members and spouses are invited. Contact a Rotary member for more info. Someone that remembers more than me. It's in July. I think on a Saturday. I think about the 3rd week. But, don't trust me for all the details. We do require some eating and swimming. Those attending can be picked up by a pontoon boat and taken to a private dock on the lake.

We have a changing of the guard in the Mtn. Home Rotary. Rebecca Raynor is now our new president. Allen Moore is yesterday's news. Allen wanted to be president for another year, but we had to follow the rules..................like wearing your badge, so that I can make sure that I'm spelling Allen correctly. Allen / Alan / Alien. I can barely remember my own name. Rebecca wore her badge. I got the correct spelling from another pic.

Today's Rotary meeting was very interesting to me. As long as I've lived here, I never actually knew what American Stitchco made or what they did. They make a very wide variety of items and many are very expensive and made by few...............including gear for NASA, Fire Departments, gowns for hospitals, covers for riding lawn mowers, covers for tires, uniforms, and on and on. I was impressed. Our guest speakers were Ben Luelf, Vice President, and Morgan Pendergrass, Purchasing Manager, and brains of the operation. Morgan didn't say much, but she had all the answers.
For Rotary members that missed this meeting, too bad. You missed an atypical, interesting presentation.
