Mountain Home Rotary The Rotary Club of Mountain Home is a local service organization committed to serving our community.

Our meetings take place at noon every Thursday at Big Creek Golf & Country Club. Our programs are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. "We are a group of local leaders making a difference in our community - ordinary people making an extraordinary difference in our world!"

At our recent Rotary meeting, we heard from Matt Sutton, Mental Health Director/Therapist, and Heather Hatman, MSE School Counseling Mental Health/Wellness Support Specialist, with Mountain Home Public Schools. They shared information about Bridges of Mountain Home, a nonprofit program dedicated to bridging the gap between student needs and student success.

Bridges helps MHPS students and families with a variety of needs, including mental health support, medical and dental screenings, food, clothing, housing, utility assistance and more. These services help remove barriers so students can focus on learning and succeeding.

The Mid-Marion County had their Turkey Trot event on Saturday. The Mountain Home Rotary had two members involved that I know of. One was a judge and photographer, and the other gave up his judging position to be a pooper scooper behind the horses. I'm not sure why. So, these are just a few pics. More coming later. 🎉 You are invited! Come celebrate 80 years of Rotary with us! 🎉

We invite our current and past Rotary Club of Mountain Home members to join us for our next meeting as we celebrate 80 years of Service Above Self in our community!

When: Thursday, October 22
Time: 12:00 PM
Where: Big Creek Golf & Country Club

As part of our celebration, we’re also launching “Worth the Weight,” a community food bank challenge benefiting the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas. We’ll be collecting monetary donations and turning those dollars into their food-weight equivalent to help fill the scale!

Come celebrate our past, present and future. Help us make a difference in our community!

At our latest Rotary meeting, we were fortunate to hear from state director Duane Hada, who shared about Cross Trail Outfitters (CTO) – Buffalo River Arkansas Chapter and the impact they are making with area youth.

CTO is a Christian youth hunting and fishing organization that works primarily with boys ages 8–17, using the outdoors as a classroom to teach integrity, responsibility, leadership, outdoor skills and a Christ-centered life. Through hunting, fishing and other outdoor experiences, CTO helps young people build confidence, friendships and a strong foundation of faith and service.

Duane also shared about his work through Rivertown Gallery in Mountain Home, where he celebrates the beauty, wildlife and heritage of the Ozarks through his artwork inspired by a lifetime of fishing, hunting and exploring the region.

At our last August Rotary meeting, we were pleased to hear from Rotarian Dr. Bentley Wallace, Chancellor of ASU Mountain Home. He gave us an exciting look at the many things happening at ASUMH and the ways the college continues to grow and serve our community.

Dr. Wallace shared impressive student statistics, highlighted the college’s Performing Arts Series, and introduced the new “Unlocking the Future” fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $2.5 million to help invest in the future of ASUMH and its students.

We appreciate Dr. Wallace taking the time to share all that is happening at ASUMH and the exciting opportunities ahead for our community!

At our last meeting, we heard from Matthew Kasinger, the Arkansas State Leader for Hives for Heroes, as he shared more about the organization’s mission and the impact it is making for Veterans, First Responders and pollinator health. 🐝

Hives for Heroes uses beekeeping to create connection, purpose and healing while building stronger communities and helping protect our pollinators. Matthew also takes the mission into local schools to educate students and shares his locally produced honey at the Cotter Farmers Market.

A big thank you to Seth Guin for helping us connect with Matthew and bringing such an inspiring speaker to Rotary!

We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about an organization that truly lives out the spirit of Service Above Self. 🐝💛

The Mountain Home Rotary met yesterday at Big Creek Country Club. Our guest speaker was Steve Blumreich from Friends of the Norfork Fish Hatchery. Steve filled us in and updated us on what has been going on with Norfork Fish Hatchery and the reduction of stock trout put in the river. Attached will be some info on what has been going on. Most of it has got to do with weather, heat, rain, cloudy water, etc, which set the stage for parasites, oxygen levels, etc. Good info.
We also had guests and a new member induction. One visitor was Kyle Camp, Managing Broker from Century 21 LeMac Realty. I shoulda asked him if he was related to Wayne Camp. Wayne was my teacher in a real estate class 40 years ago. I shoulda went ahead and got my license. I coulda made more money than just being a doctor in Mtn. Home.
Then, we had had Mackenzie Buchanan. Mackenzie is an insurance agent with Affordable Insurance. She was a guest of Amber Solomon.
Then, we inducted Whitney Stanifer as a new member. Whitney was previously a guest of Amber Solomon. Guess who's active in this club at getting new members. We need more, and Amber needs help.
