Join American Legion Post 26 - Mountain Home, ID as we honor our nation's flag through a traditional Flag Retirement Ceremony.

The American flag is more than cloth and thread—it is a symbol of freedom, sacrifice, service, and unity. When a flag becomes worn and no longer fit for display, it is retired with honor and dignity in accordance with longstanding military and patriotic traditions.

We invite the community to witness this meaningful ceremony and learn about the significance behind the respectful retirement of our nation's colors.

"A flag may be weathered, but the ideals for which it stands remain eternal."

Planting flags in preparation for Memorial Weekend.

If your plans this weekend keep you in the local area, there are opportunities for you and your family to partake in in preparation for Memorial Day.

-This afternoon, Friday 22 May at 5pm: The community, led by American Legion Post 26, will be placing flags on graves at the cemetery…and they could use your help! Please come out and support this event, show your respect in honoring our fallen Brothers and Sisters.

-This Saturday and Sunday (May 23 & 24): Our Post 5423 is partnering with the Glenns Ferry Post 3646 to provide snacks and drinks at both rest stops by the Bliss exit on I-84. We will be manning the Westbound station at the rest area (look for our VFW banner).
We will be at the rest stop both Saturday and Sunday from 7am-4pm. We have members signed up to support this event, but if you wish to come out and support…all is welcomed!!


-Monday, 25 May: Memorial Day. There will be a Memorial Day ceremony at the Mountain Home Cemetery at 11am. If you’d like to assist in assisting with the setup for the ceremony, we ask for those members to meet at the War Memorial Hall (Am. Legion Post 26 bldg) at 9am to help load the trailer with tables, chairs, wreaths, etc… for the ceremony. We will then head to the cemetery to set up. After the ceremony, the Legion Post 26 is having lunch at the Post; all are welcomed.

American Legion Honor Guard will be performing a 2nd ceremony at the Pine Cemetery immediately following the ceremony in Mountain Home. All are welcomed to this ceremony too.
