It is with a heavy heart that we notify you today of the passing of one of our former members, Janice Koehler. She served as unit treasurer a few years ago and stayed a member until her health required her to cut back on outside obligations. Please remember her family in your prayers, and watch for further info about funeral services.

REMINDER TO ALL AUXILIARY MEMBERS: This Sunday (May 3) at 2:00 pm, Post/Unit 52 will host the annual Great Second District Convention -- and you are all encouraged to attend. We always start with a joint meeting in the main hall, with representatives from every post & unit in the district ... this includes memorial services for all Legionnaires & Auxiliary members throughout the district who have passed away in the last year. Then we separate for our individual business meetings.

After the meetings conclude, Unit 52 will serve lunch to all who wish to stay -- this year's menu includes pulled pork sandwiches with picnic-style sides and yummy desserts. (Donations of sides and/or desserts would be GREATLY appreciated, as we expect to serve 50-75 people.)

These quarterly meetings are for ALL members, not just the officers, and they always provide something of value -- whether it's meeting new people, learning new information, or borrowing another unit's successful ideas for fundraising ... well worth an afternoon of your time.

It's almost time!!

Tomorrow night (Monday, February 9), Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52, Mountain Home, AR will be serving up its annual Valentine's Day "Chili & Chocolate" fundraiser dinner, starting at 4:00 pm.

Menu includes 4 different chilis -- traditional red, with or without beans; white bean chicken chili; and venison chili with black beans (a bit spicy, but not too much). This is an all-you-can-eat event, so takeout will not be available.

There will be several toppings and seasonings available to make your bowl the way you like it, as well as a variety of crackers, chocolate desserts, and cold drinks.

NO PANCAKE BREAKFAST / NO COFFEE SOCIAL / NO Pantry at the Post THIS SATURDAY! It's supposed to be extremely cold that morning, and out of an abundance of caution, we're all taking the day off. Come see us next month, on Saturday, February 28th, and enjoy TWICE as many pancakes to make up for it! See you then (weather permitting, of course)!

ALA Unit 52's very successful 5th Annual Veterans' Christmas Shop concluded this afternoon.

HOWEVER:

We still have lots of stuffed animals, toys, puzzles, some "guy" stuff, some "girl" stuff, household items, adult clothing, hats, gloves, socks, scarves, jewelry, pet stuff, throws & blankets, books, music CDs, DVDs, Christmas decor -- and more!

SO ... because we would rather sell it than pack it away, we will be open on Tuesday, December 16, from 9 am until 12 noon for anyone who would like to shop for last-minute gift items for family/friends ... most items are priced at under $5; for things that are NOT priced, just make us a reasonable offer.

5th Annual Christmas Shop for Veterans kicks off tomorrow morning (Wednesday, December 10) at 10 am! Lots of great gift items to pick from, from little kids to grandparents. Volunteers are still welcome -- we need folks to es**rt the Veterans around the room and help them choose their gifts ... we also need people willing to help wrap those gifts, if desired. If you can help, please just come on in!

The event runs Wednesday through Saturday (13th), from 10 am until 2 pm.
