Congratulations to Carolyn Hannon on her recent Heroes with Halos Award! It was presented by Janna Bell, Auxiliary Coordinator; Gianna Sherry, Gift Officer/Foundation; Trisha Terry, Gift Officer/Foundation; Karla Tyler, Bargain Box Coordinator; Becky Rose, Auxiliary Director; Debbie Swan, Gift Shop Manager; Cindy Costa, Gift Officer/Foundation; and Sarah Edwards, Executive Director/Baxter Health Foundation.

A colleague wrote:
“When the Auxiliary organized back in 1962 – before there was even a hospital – do you think they ever dreamed of the legacy they would begin! Every generation since has added to the auxiliary programs and kept the legacy thriving. My team in Volunteer Services would like to recognize an individual who, during her presidency, wanted to add to that auxiliary legacy. Carolyn Hannon took her dream to Barney Larry and Heather Knight, our Foundation leaders at that time, and expressed her goal. She wanted to start a $1 million endowment that the Auxiliary would then be able to draw from annually and give back to the Foundation for future needs. In June of 2005, the Auxiliary Board voted to accept the challenge from Carolyn and fund that endowment. They gave themselves 10 years. Because of the community that we live in and the great work that happens at the Bargain Box, the Pink-A-Dilly and the monthly fundraisers of the Ways & Means Team, the Auxiliary was able to fund that endowment by 2011 – four years before their original goal! In 2013, the Auxiliary donated $50,000 back to the Foundation for the first draw from the endowment. Since that date, the Auxiliary has donated over $1.2 million out of the proceeds of the endowment for special services and equipment needs at Baxter Health. Thank you, Carolyn, for always being a champion of health care and always challenging the Auxiliary and staff to stretch our resources for quality patient care at Baxter Health. What a legacy our Auxiliary will continue to give back to our community through this endowment and with special auxiliary leaders like Carolyn Hannon!”

"Julia is the most kind-hearted lady. She lights up the room. When someone is out – she steps up and works for them. She has helped the Bargain Box tremendously by taking care of and selling the jewelry. She has helped us out so much. She is a real asset to the Bargain Box!!"

"I would like to honor a unique volunteer, Henry Lavender. He volunteers at the Bargain Box Thrift Store, drives the shuttle bus for hospital employees and serves on the Auxiliary Board and Hope Team. With all he does, Henry displays an enthusiastic attitude in his duties. He is friendly to everyone and certainly creative. Thank you for sharing your talents."

Baxter Health Announces Discount on Outstanding Balances
Effective immediately, Baxter Health is offering a 15 percent discount on all hospital accounts if outstanding balances are paid before November 30, 2026. This offer applies to all patients and employees of the hospital and will be applied automatically upon payment.

This discount applies to all forms of payment accepted at Baxter Health including those made online, in person at the Cashier, or by phone at 870-508-1091. All payments must be made before November 30, 2026 in order to qualify for this discount.

For those with questions about eligibility for the discount or how to make payments, please contact Baxter Health Financial Services directly by calling 870-508-1080. Financial counselors are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday to answer any questions you may have.
