The first-ever DSCR WEST HAVEN Greenie Rodeo was a MAJOR hit! 🤠🏆
What a beautiful space, great ground, and an awesome setup for riders to get out there, kick up some dirt, have some fun, and maybe win a buckle or two.
But honestly, the real win of the day had nothing to do with the standings.
It was the friendship. The horsemanship. The sportsmanship. The encouragement. The all-around commitment to being a good human.
We watched someone who was cleaning up the buckles step aside and hand theirs to the runner-up. We watched kids switch horses so everyone could still run when one horse wasn’t feeling his best. Parents helped kids who weren’t their own. Big kids watched little kids. Riders cheered for each other. People offered help without being asked.
THIS is what we want our rodeos to be about.
Because the horse industry has enough ego. Enough competition. Enough people forgetting that there is a HUMAN being on the other side of the arena.
At DSCR, we’re here to bring it back to the basics: Take care of your horse. Take care of your people. Have fun. Be humble. And leave the arena having made somebody else’s day a little better.
Because let’s be honest… nobody is getting rich doing this sport. 😂
So it might as well be fun, welcoming, competitive, encouraging, and KIND.
That’s the kind of rodeo we want to build. ❤️🐴
